Although I do the best I can
I just can’t seem to get ahead

Its one step forward two steps back
It’s perseverance that I lack

Though I don’t want to suffer more
Great trials will find me this I’m sure

They’ll follow me across the earth
Until I’ve finished giving birth

To hope and love with great endurance
Of this I now have God’s assurance
