How can we allow it?
Go blindly through our day?
Pretending this does not exist,
That God will make a way.
Hiding behind blinders,
Ignoring what is right,
And go about our daily deeds,
Because it's out of sight.
Millions die because we're blind,
Conveniently ignore,
The gift of God that we destroy
With no one to keep score.
How can we keep our silence
When laws protect the deed,
If we keep silent, we condone,
And we must intercede.
Little ones yet to be born
Signed away and killed,
Simply inconvenient,
Their life goes unfulfilled.
God alone decides each fate,
We simply have no right
To take away the chance for life,
The babies in this plight.
These little ones we should protect
Who do not have a say,
A life created to be lived
Yet we their lives betray.
Lord, forgive our nation,
The laws we have allowed,
Give us courage to speak up,
Not simply ape the crowd.
