If you’ve ever done any traveling, you know asking for directions can be a tricky business because the person is quite sincere and definite in what they’re telling you is the right way to go. But then you come to find out their directions were completely incorrect and have led you astray. Being so sure of themselves changes nothing, they were still wrong, and you paid the price by being misled. It’s important to protect yourself against those who are well meaning but continue to cling to what the Word of God clearly says is not true.
The Old Testament is full of false prophets who told the people anything they wanted to hear just to appease them. They put the listener to sleep with words that tickled the ears but led the people of God down a primrose path to destruction. It’s so important to not assume you’re being told the truth. Confirm everything you’re hearing with the Word of God. Ask the Lord in prayer about speaking to your heart to unveil any deceptions that have become the truth to you simply because you’ve heard them over and over again. The Bible clearly says that there’s a way that seems right to a man but will lead to death.
You can’t be a vessel of light if you are full of the darkness of deceit not realizing that what you’re regurgitating to others could be entirely false and without merit scripturally. Beware that your heart and mind have not been polluted and compromised to the things of God so you can be a pure instrument that can be used to break the bondage of such lies from off others who are held captive by the devil’s deceit.
