Listeners of Pop music, suffered a great loss, when Karen Carpenter died, in 1983. Karen, of the sister-brother act, The Carpenters, died a sudden death, at the tender age of 33. The duo had a string of hits on the Pop charts. I recall their 1973 hit version, Sing.
I find it nearly impossible, not to sing along, with the catchy song. When Ashley, our soon to be 18-year old grandson, was a baby, I pushed him in his outdoor swing. As he enjoyed the swinging, he smiled at the singing of my own little ditty.
“Swing, swing a boy.
Granny’s love,
Granny’s joy!”
“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God (Psalm 59:16-17 NIV).”
