It started with a whisper.
"I love you."
It was not loud or pushy.
It was easy to ignore.
I continued as normal.
I did not care who was knocking at my heart's door.
I had no idea and I did not care.
I continued living just to glorify me.
I was doing what I wanted.
I was fine on my own.
I had never heard and I did not know
my selfishness would cost me for eternity.
God is patient.
God is kind.
He is not willing that any should perish but that all might receive life everlasting,
His life.
God is gentle.
God is love.
I am always on his mind
No matter how hard or how often I give him a shove,
Turn my back and walk away.
The whispers continued to interrupt my routine.
"I love you. I care for you.
Come to me for rest. I will make you clean."
My life was mine and I was free.
I would not let go of the full and rich life I had built.
Being used. Addiction. Lonlieness. Exhaustion. Sin. Misery.
"I love you."
Stress. Tragedy. Suffering. Abandonment. Sin. Misery.
"I love you. Let me take these burdens from you."
Worry. Grief. Problems. Pain. Fear. Exasperation. Sin. Misery.
"You can come to me."
My life was weighing me down, dragging me down.
I could not keep pace.
I could not continue living my way pretending I did not mind the destruction.
Then, it all started with a whisper.
It was not loud or pushy.
It could have easily been ignored.
"God, I do need you. I am glad you love me.
I come to you for rest. Make me clean.
Make me whole."
