The Holy Spirit & His Attributes

Iím grateful for another opportunity to share Godís Word with you. Iíve been instructed to share more teaching about the Holy Spiritís Personality traits, Names, Titles and overall how He operates in the life of a believer.

The Updated Structured Outline of the Holy Spirit

I would like to use the layout of a topical concordance I have and supernaturally bring it alive to explain in greater detail the operation of the Holy Spirit. I appreciate the concordances efforts to inform us but remember itís the Holy Spiritís revelation of how to take that information and bring it to life and practical application so we can experience the power of the Holy Spiritís presence in our lives.

Titles, Names, Description, Duties, Emblems and Gifts

The Holy Spirit has many Titles, Names, Job Descriptions, Duties, and Heís symbolically is called (Fire, Oil, Rain, Dew, Water and Wind). Why do we need to know this information? The reason for the detailed description of the Holy Spirit will allow us to be well rounded of who He is and what He does in regards to Godís plan being fulfilled in our lives. The deeper we get to know Himóthe better we can develop our relationship to Him to steer us in the will of God.

The Concordance List with Divine Explanation

Making Sense of Concordance Outlines

I drew most of these 3 lists from a Topical Concordance except for 7 things in two categories which I dugout. I also want to say that this is only a ľ of the amount of information from one of my Concordances. There is still so much information available. I pointed this out to show you that Iím doing my research and not solely relying on the concordance itself.

Teachers Note: I would like to share that I had to look thru every verse to be sure that the concordance doesnít give scripture that does not relate to a Title or Name of the Holy Spirit. I ran across some scriptures that did not directly relate to the Holy Spiritóit indirectly with a lot of explanation needed somewhat related to the Holy Spirit; (For you Scholars and Bible Teachers Beware of these errors!)

Learning to Bring the Outline List into Application

There is 3 Lists a total of 22 subjects or articles that could be written about the Holy Spirit. Iím led to write about 2 Titles.

1. Holy Spirit (Psalms 51:11 NKJV)
2. Free Spirit or Generous Spirit (Psalms 51:12 KJV, NKJV)

Who acknowledged or gave this Title to the Holy Spirit? David did.

When did He acknowledge and called The Holy SpiritóHoly Spirit and Free Spirit? When he prayed the prayer for repentance because of the sin he committed against God when he had an adulteress affair with Bathsheba and tried to cover it up but he couldnít so he took it to another evil level and committed murder by having Uriah killed. (Story with David, Bathsheba and Uriah 2 Samuel 11:1-27) (Davidís Prayer of Repentance Psalms 51:1-19).

At what point of the Prayer did David mention the Holy Spirit and Free Spirit (KJV) in connection with how he was making his appeal to God to forgive him? This is the practical point we need to look deeper into and apply it to our lives as David left us an example. David was quoted saying, Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me (Psalm 51:11 NKJV).

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your Generous Spirit (Psalm 51:12 NKJV)

The Practical Application

Allow me to preach a little bit then I will close-out this article. Bible scholars say that David was in this sin for quite a few months before Nathan the Prophet came to confront him about his sin in (2 Samuel chapter 12). Now, the Divine Revelation about the Holy Spirit in this story is that of His enormous GRACE, MERCY, and PATIENCE He had with David, and the idea that the Holy Spirit was very TOLERANT despite Davidís sin of Adultery and Murder is mind-blowing. The Holy Spirit was still around in Davidís life to some degree. Yet, David did lose some joy, he felt like a liar, a cheat, a sneaky scoundrel, and he was broken (See Psalms 51, as he describes his turmoil).

Teachers Note: In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit came upon Kings, Priest and Prophet. He was upon them not inside their human-spiritís as He is with New Testament believers. So the Holy Spirit could have easily left David as He left King Saul. (The Spirit left King Saul 1 Samuel 18:12 KJV) (Jesus said, the Holy Spirit will be with us and in us forever John 14:15-21, 26-28).

The Challenge

What are you up against? What sin or sins have you committed that has you in limbo and in a state of guilt that you feel unworthy to come to God because you feel that God wonít forgive you? Did you commit Adultery and Murder? Or are you a playgirl or playboy or a porn freak? What is your hang-up, what is your issue, why are you running from God instead of running to God in repentance? Are you setting people up to be killed like David? Are you hooking people up to enjoy freaky Friday with sex toys, or sex spas? Whatís your sin-- Alcoholism, Drugs, Crack cocaine or pills?

No matter what you did or where you are--God will forgive you, God will deliver you, and God will heal your backslidden condition and restore on to you the joy of His Salvation. So donít remain in limbo understand that the power of the Holy Spirit is there to destroy the works of the devil, the bondage that you may find yourself in--call upon the name of the Lord and experience the yoke destroying anointing of the Spirit of God, amen.
