For years I walked caught between my good and bad way
For years I walked caught wondering which side do I pay
For Years I walked with good and bad biding for my pride
For years I walked with good giving way to my evil side
For years I walked failing to look around me for to see
For years I walked failing to spot the good over evil in me
For years I walked not having the good over evil set free
For years I walked not having the good explained clearly
For years I walked wondering why evil was left to remain
For years I walked wondering if my life to ever be the same
For years I walked not knowing how I may be forever set free
For years I walked not knowing that freedoms cost has no fee
For years I walked not knowing the joy that I had missed
For years I walked not knowing that evil could be dismissed
For years I walked now by my faith the goodness wins out
For years I walked now by His grace evil goes without a doubt
For years I walked will you now come walk in my good shoes
For years I walked will you now flee evil and goodness choose
Remember the old Warner Brother cartoons where the guy's got a tough time making' a decision ? He's got an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. Seems pretty obvious, right--usually the angels' the one that wants to give the good advice and the devil's trying' to get him to do what would be bad for him. Well, this poem is kind of like that old cartoon.
We Christian, and maybe even unbelievers, often times go through life struggling between two important decisions, those being either good or bad.
However, everyone in life has two major choices. First, if you have never developed a personal relationship with God, through His son, this is the most important decision of them all. To become in fellowship with God, you must take His word by faith and except His free grace to change your life.( Ephesians 2:8-9)
You can never work your way to God, be good enough to come to God, and can never come to God depending on the goodness of a family member or friend. It's simple trusting God's word, by your faith alone.
Second, if you are a believer, trust in God's Holy Spirit to aid and guide you through life. ( John 14:26)
So, let's knock those evil chips off our shoulders and move forward with God.( Proverbs 3:5-6)
