If youíve ever tried to negotiate a road after a violent storm you know there could be many obstacles in your path that might prevent you from getting to your destination. If a tree has fallen someone has to get their chain saw and remove the barrier so you can pass freely. In Isaiah 57:14 the Lord says He wants His people to return to Him and every obstacle should be removed from their path to do so. Are there obstacles in your path to God friend? The Lord says to build the road and make it ready to travel. Are you using your road to God? Is it free to travel or are there things in your life making it difficult to safely negotiate?
This passage goes on to say Heís a high and holy God who lives forever in a high and holy place. He continues to say, I also live with people who are humble and repentant so I can restore their confidence and hope. Are there times you could use a little confidence and hope? Verse 18 goes on to say the Lordís just waiting to heal, lead, and help you in your day of mourning. It says He will give you peace, but those who are evil and unrepentant find themselves restless like waves nevering stop rolling into the seashore. They turn up and bring in the muck of their lives and find no safety in their sin.
Have you ever tried to swim in muddy water? Itís not very pleasant compared to the clean clear water of the tropics. Do you have a desire for your life be a river of living water, constantly fresh and renewed instead of full of sediment that just keeps coming to the surface any time the wind blows? Make no mistake, the winds will blow. The question is will you blow with them or can you claim to hold fast to the anchor that is Christ Jesus who gave Himself when He died on the cross for your sins like a great filter catching your past, present, and future sin and preserving you for great things.
