This Week's Review: http://www.familyeducation.com
Parenting can be a difficult job. (Though it is the most rewarding job I’ve ever had.) I really appreciate sites that help me with the dilemmas that I face everyday. Currently it is my child’s lack of interest in reading. This kid’s favorite subjects at school are gym and recess- how do you compete with THAT? Well, familyeducation.com deals with this very issue. Check out When Kids Hate to Read. This page offers a very helpful article that helps you determine why your child would rather take out the trash than read a
book. Besides the article, there are many activities for kids according to their grade level. And 50 Fun Ways to Improve Reading. That is just the beginning of what you’ll find on this website.
Family Education is part of the Learning Network, which features links for: parents, teachers, kids, teens and reference. Use the Explore Learning Network Sites to simplify your search. Or feel free to just start clicking any one of the many topics featured on the home page.
If you enjoy reading newsletters, there are mega amounts of them here. To view them you must give your email address but there is no cost involved.
Special newsletters for: LD and ADHD, Gifted and Talented, Your (insert grade level here), Homeschooling and many different subjects for
teachers-plus a variety of others are found.
Maybe you are wondering if your child is functioning at their grade level.
You have a few options here. Go to Grade by Grade and refine your search-we’ll talk about Third Graders here. You can check Milestones to see if maybe you should hold your child back. You can read comments from teachers, parents and school counselors both pro and con. Or if you just want to help your 8-year-old brush up on math or language arts, there are links here to
help. Print out the appropriate worksheet here.
I really haven’t even touched on what is found here. You will want to save this in your Favorites file, trust me. Until next time.
