It is quite normal for children to grow up and understand what life is really all about. For example, appreciating the efforts of your parents; teachers, etc.
Learning how to fit into this world responsibly is a huge feat and without the guidance of parents, institutions and our predecessors it would be a daunting challenge even to the most gifted child.
Ironically! It could be a daunting task for the most gifted adult. When things go wrong some parents think they’re kids are straight out of hell while others think they are getting paid back for their own misdemeanors while they were kids.
We often get it wrong by assuming we are the Alpha and Omega when it comes to tutoring our Children. By doing this we focus on areas we can see or perceive, which is really quite minute, and leave out areas we can’t see that are often large.
If you are a Christian parent it will do you well to accept that God created your child for a purpose (Jer.1:5) and no matter how you nudge him/her they’ll only do what God says they will do.
Like earthly parents, Our God expects our Children to grow up to a point when they recognize Him as the Lord of all things He really wants this from Children (Mk.10:14) and that is a responsibility given to every Parent one which brings great reward.
In the book of genesis (18:19) God reveals a secret to His friendship with Abraham, He says, “For I know that he will command his household and his children after him, and the y shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment. And this is what is required of Christian parents.
We can you train our children in the way of the Lord t by exposing them to the word of God and to the teachings of Jesus Christ! From a very early age and by reinforcing the lessons learned from the word of God.
Growing up with my brothers and Sisters,My mum encouraged our faith by making sure we went to church and even though my mind was all over the place, except when we were forced to sit down, I knew the Church to be a place where there was liberty and so i had to play. But something happened to me when I was twelve years old as I made my way home from school.
The whole earth suddenly came alive before my very eyes. I recognized the horizon, the hills, the blue skies and the lush green grass that met my eyes and I asked a question in my heart. Who made all this? This awakening to the beautiful truth which Children experience in different ways needs to be nurtured, and must be prepared for.
I know of three Children whom the bible gave as examples of Children taught in the way of the Lord and they turned out to be quite outstanding in their generation and are still spoken of today. Isaac, the Son of Abraham. Samuel the son of Elka-nah, and Jesus, the son of David, the Son of God.
