In the visiting room of California's most famous prison Susan looked at Charlie and said, "I have found the grace to forgive you." Charlie and Susan had corresponded for a long time during which Charlie did not know all the facts about Susan.
I know Charlie and Susan do not ring bells ring with many of you. Susan's last name will ring a few, LaBianca. Charlie is Watson. Still no bells? How are the prisoner, Charles Watson and Susan LaBianca tied to Charles Manson? Any bells yet?
Charles Watson is Manson’s former right hand man Tex. Tex had been sentenced to death for participating in the Manson murders. Bells are ringing. But who is Susan LaBianca? Tex participated in the murder of Susan's parents. So where does Susan's statement to Tex fit in? Through a working of Christ in her life Susan discovered that there is no way to undo what is done, nothing could bring her Father and Mother back into her life.
She also knew that her only hope for deliverance from the torment of bitterness was to someway, somehow forgive. The someway, somehow is Christ, to forgive as He does. Easy to say and teach. The actual doing of it is a miracle.
You are not Susan LaBianca and it's unlikely that you know anyone like Tex. But what about the less than outrageous you are unwilling to forgive?
