Titus Part 3
1 of 2
We are now finishing this book of Titus, giving advice in how to conduct ourselves as leaders and in setting up the churches, or many-membered body of Christ. Let’s get into this now here in:
Titus 3:1 “Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,”
Everything we read in the last two chapters, keep those these in mind, and remember that this battle is not one of the flesh, but of the spirit. As leaders and even as Christians we are to be a good witness and show ourselves approved. How? Not by men’s teachings or doctrines, but by the Word of God. That way if we are obeying all laws and rules, we are protected by laws, for example, here in the United States. We keep and obey the laws, are a good citizen and person in our communities and are in good standing, we can continue to do a good work, and to serve the Lord teaching His Word and protected by those rights and freedoms of speech and of religion. Also, too, remember this is a spiritual battle. We better have all of the power of the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God. The battle is against those in high places or in heaven, against the enemy, Satan, and his angels, who are locked in chains in heaven until their release very soon here in these last days. Keep the entire Word of God for:
Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Ephesians 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
armour (Strong’s 3833) full armor (“panoply” or full suit of armor, protective cover or ceremonial attire); (from Strong’s 3956) all, any, every, the hole, and (from Strong’s 3696) an implement or utensil or tool (especially offensive for war).
wiles (Strong’s 3180) traveling over, travesty or ridicule (trickery), lie in wait;
wrestle (Strong’s 2076) he, she or it, and (Strong’s 3823) (to vibrate; another form for Strong’s 906), to throw, strike or thrust; wrestling
principalities (Strong’s 746) (a commencement, or chief, corner, magistrate, principality, rule. (from Strong’s 756) (through the implication of precedence) to commence (in order of time);
powers (Strong’s 1849) privilege, i.e. force, capacity, competency, mastery, superhuman, potentate or one who wields great power, token of control, influence.
high places (Strong’s 2032) above the sky, celestial, heavenly, (from Strong’s 1909) superimposition, of direction, and (from Strong’s 3772) (through the idea of elevation) the sky, happiness, power, eternity; specifically the Gospel (Christianity);
day (Strong’s 2250) (to sit; akin to base Strong’s 1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours; figurative a period.
That armor, or that full protection of knowing that the devil will come first and claim to be God to the world, when he does sit in the Lord’s throne in Jerusalem and say that he is God, will happen in that evil day, in our very near future. We live in that day, or close to that final day of the end of this world age. That’s why we have to know all of God’s Word, not just bits of it, like the New Testament, or also the Book of Revelation, which some churches teach that you don’t need to read it or understand it as you’ll be “raptured away”. God is against these teaching and tells us to teach against that which teach their people to fly:
Ezekiel 13:18 “And say, ‘Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the (women) that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls alive (that come) unto (you)?”
Ezekiel 13:19 “And will ye pollute Me among My People for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to My People that hear your lies?”
Ezekiel 13:20 “Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; ‘Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.”
Ezekiel 13:21 “Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver My People out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.”
Ezekiel 13:22 “Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, when I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:”
Ezekiel 13:23 “Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver My People out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.’’”
These false prophets, or teachers, the subject of Ezekiel 13, is what the LORD God here is commanding Ezekiel to teach against this. They cover up the truth right at the top of their religions or church organizations, or at the head of every stature! They are hunting down souls, not people, but their souls, in order to fill up their churches and their congregations to get their numbers increased, and doing it for the money! Then God says to teach against those pillows, meaning those lies and those cover ups of the truth of His Word, His name. Then God states that HE will rip off those kerchiefs, or those blindfolds, that cover up the eyes of the people trying to learn about God and His Word! The world will see when the Lord Jesus Himself appears after Satan comes first, and the major way he will set his trap is through religion and false church doctrine by this “fly away” teaching and that the Word of God or parts of it aren’t needed. OR that you just need to be “saved” or “to believe”. You should ask yourself, believe in what? For if you don’t know what you believe in, then what kind of faith is that? A church that does not show you how they get their information, or how to look into the Word of God to find out what He is saying, as going chapter by chapter and line by line, following through the subject and object, and going to the original languages, so that the person can see how that information was found. Moving along here:
Titus 3:2 “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.”
brawlers (Strong’s 269) peaceable; not a brawler.
A leader or even a Christian is someone that does not go out looking for trouble, but trying to get along with people. As here:
I Timothy 3:1 “This is a true saying, “If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.”
I Timothy 3:3 “Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy or filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;”
A church leader should be someone that is trying according to the Word, not an abuser, or in it for the money regarding teaching God’s Word or for the power or title, also someone patiently showing the people how to understand God’s Word. Not showing people how intelligent they are, or how much they know. Rather gently leading them along in the Word of God, and encouraging them. Also, someone that is peaceable and not causing problems, especially amongst the members of the congregation where Satan will work the church, as God is trying to do a good work. Also, not covetous, or learning about something in God’s Word and then keeping it for themselves, and being lazy about teaching the people. However, remember as Christian we are not to be people that the world can walk all over as some think we have to be, no! One reason back at the time Titus was written, approximately 67 A.D. it was against the law to teach the Word of God in the Roman Empire, people would be put to death, as Paul and the disciples of God’s Word did and went through so many trials, beatings, stonings and so forth. Any covert action for them to not bring attention to the church was good advice. So like here:
I Timothy 2:2 “For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
Not only to show the world that we are peaceable, good citizens as Christians to set the standard, but they had a direct threat. Today here in the United States we are so blessed that we can freely practice our rights as freedom of religion and of free speech for the many that fought and died to obtain that freedom we have today in our great nation! Some places like in the former Soviet Union, Christians have to hide under the communist government, go and dig out holes in the ice in order to be baptized as practicing Christianity is against their atheist government! We have to appreciate this, but also, understand the reason for the reason to be peaceable. Not as people to be a doormat to the world, but as here:
Romans 12:18 “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
For example an abuser of you, your family we are not to tolerate this, for what does that say if we are not standing up for ourselves and protecting ourselves and our loved ones! If someone broke into your home, wouldn’t you protect them? The same way again, obeying all civil law and the law of the land, that way you are protected with those rights for doing so. Moving along here:
Titus 3:3 “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.”
divers (Strong’s 4164) motley or diversified in color, i.e. various in character, divers, manifold.
lusts (Strong’s 1939) a longing (especially for what is forbidden); concupiscence or intense sexual desire, lust (after).
pleasures (Strong’s 2237) (Greek ‘hedone‘) sensual delight; desire, lust, pleasure.
All of these things are things of the flesh. The word divers, meaning different or even unnatural, and lusts, like intense sexual desire, and lastly, pleasures, the Greek word “hedone” just like in English hedonist, or the pursuit of or devotion to pleasure. As here, in
II Timothy 3:1 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”
II Timothy 3:6 “For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts.”
silly women (Strong’s 1133) a little (i.e. foolish) woman; (a diminished from Strong’s 1135) a woman, specifically a wife.
The same word “divers lusts” used and especially in these last days, or the final days of the generation of the fig tree we live in today, of Mark 13:28 which began when Israel came a nation, marking it. Here the phrase “silly women” means foolish wives, as remember we all, both men and women, are the many membered body of Christ so when Satan and his fallen angels come to this earth, by his deception from God’s Word, that is what is meant here as here:
Revelation 12:7 “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,”
Revelation 12:8 “And prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven.”
Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Devil (Strong’s 1228) a traducer; specific Satan; false accuser, devil, slanderer.
Satan (Strong’s 4567) the accuser, i.e. the devil.
Right now today Satan is held in chains at God’s command by Michael and his angels. Remember Satan’s evil spirit and his evils spirits that listen to him can come to this earth. That’s why when we read in Titus 3:1 that this is a spiritual battle, as the fight is against dark powers, or Satan, in high places, or in heaven. So when all these things of the flesh that come up in churches where God is trying to do a good work through his people, the church leaders and Bible pastors and teachers, that is where Satan will start picking the people apart with all these things we are reading about here. Bringing this denomination against that one and so forth. Why do you think today there are so many church denominations, which means to divide out there, as that is how the enemy tries to divide and conquer, bringing in thee divers lusts, or teachings and doctrines that are not in the Word of God, trying to destroy in any way he can! Be aware and be alert! Remember nothing to fear as the Lord God is in control, as He is Omnipotent:
Revelation 19:6 “And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thundering, saying, “Alleluia: for the LORD God Omnipotent reigneth.”
Omnipotent (Strong’s 3841) the all-ruling, i.e. God (as absolute and universal sovereign); Almighty; (from Strong’s 3956) to show alongside (the public), i.e. expose to infamy, make a public example, put to an open shame, (from Strong’s 2904) vigor (“great”) dominion, mightily, power, strength.
Meaning He is all-ruling, so there is nothing to fear. As long as you are loving Him, and His Word and under His protection, you are with Him and He is not angry with you. The base means to be made a public example as well as put to an open shame, as Jesus did with His life’s work, showing us the way on how to live and be successful in life full of all these lusts and strange and new ideas that Satan will always use to creep into our churches trying to destroy God’s people. That is how Satan will deceive the world through religion and claiming that he is God we just went over in depth in II Thessalonians Chapter 2. Moving along here:
Titus 3:4 “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,”
Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost,”
regeneration (Strong’s 3824) (spiritual) rebirth (the state or the act), i.e. spiritual renovation; specific Messianic restoration; (from Strong’s 3825) (through the idea of oscillatory, or fluctuating between high or low values, repetition); anew, i.e. (of place) back, (of time) one more, or furthermore or on the other hand, again, and (from Strong’s 1078) nativity; nature, generation; (from same as Strong’s 1074) a generation; by implication an age (the period or the persons), nation, time.
Because Our Heavenly Father loves us all that much, HE send us a Way, Who is Jesus Christ, His Son, our Saviour, that saves us all from destruction by taking our sins with His blood, and His great sacrifice of His life so we can make it! Not because we did something right, or worked out our own salvation, or were good people, or Christians, no! But according to the LORD God’s mercy, and His ever so patient love for all of us. When we have His Holy Spirit by getting into His Word, and spending some time with Him, we are reborn inside and then He can really live in us and we can shine out there in the world showing His hope, and His peace and His love. It is not by us, but rather His mercy washing us in His righteous act, as what else could the LORD God do but live a perfect Life, and then die on the cross for each one of us for all our sins so we have a chance for the eternity. As here:
Isaiah 64:1 “Oh that Thou wouldest rend the heavens, that Thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at Thy presence,”
Isaiah 64:2 “As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make Thy name known to Thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Thy presence!”
Isaiah 64:3 “When Thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, Thou camest down at Thy presence.”
Isaiah 64:4 “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside Thee, what He hath prepared for him that waited for Him.”
Right here the subject is the Lord’s Day, when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to this earth, and then all flesh changes instantly to spiritual as in I Corinthians 15:52, and the Lord stands at the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem as in Zechariah 14:4 putting His eternal kingdom on earth. Then as in II Peter 3:8-10 the elements of this earth, or anything that does not stand on that Rock Who is Christ melts off! The nations will tremble as every nation at that time will be under the kingdom of Satan all worshipping thinking that he is God as the Word foretold us in II Thessalonians Chapter 2. Then when the many who think, especially those “Christians” who will think they have it made because they are “saved”, but actually having read God’s Word with understanding, chapter by chapter and precept by precept, or have not been taught, that they had not been looking for, for they did not read as Jesus told us quite plainly all in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 that the devil will come first, the first tribulation, then Jesus will come, the second tribulation. For at the foundation of this world age, like during the time of Noah, even both Eve then Adam who were deceived by Satan, for they did not rely solely on what God had commanded them, not man, even Satan, God’s creation. Then this is quoted here in:
I Corinthians 2:8 “Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
I Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”
I Corinthians 2:10 “But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
I Corinthians 2:11 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
Again, the world will be in a state of apostasy, going against their religious belief, for they will not be well-armed with the simplicity and straight forward truth of God’s Word, as in II Thessalonians 2:3-4, and Satan will sit as God in His throne in Jerusalem. We just need to go to His Word, that way His Spirit can reach when we do the work. We need to as in Revelation Chapter 10, take that little book, the Bible, and open it. Absorb, really learn it and take it all in, knowing God’s plan of salvation, that Satan comes first at the sixth trumpet, then Jesus at the seventh trumpet of Revelation 11:15. We cannot go man to find out the Spirit of God, but to Him to His Word, which in Revelation 19:13 is the Lord is the Word of God! His very Name! Then let’s go here:
Isaiah 64:5 “Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember Thee in Thy ways: behold, Thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.”
Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
Back to the subject of Titus 3:5, not by our righteous works, or actions, as the little we can are like filthy rags, to the beautiful and pure righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep trying, keep your faith in Him, in His Word, and tell Him you love Him and show Him by your actions. Take charge of your life, do your part, and learn about Him, that way HE can use you to be a better person, help others out, comfort them and encourage them. Then also let’s go here:
Isaiah 64:7 “And there is none that calleth upon Thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of Thee; for Thou hast hid Thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.”
Isaiah 64:8 “But now, O LORD, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our Potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand.”
Isaiah 64:9 “Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech Thee, we are all Thy People.”
Isaiah 64:10 “Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.”
Isaiah 64:11 “Our holy and beautiful house, where our fathers praised Thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.”
Isaiah 64:12 “Wilt Thou refrain Thyself for these things, O LORD? Wilt Thou hold Thy peace, and afflict us very sore?”
Realizing that we are only His creation, His children that He loved sending Jesus our Saviour so we are not all condemned to perish, or blotted out of existence for none of could do this life perfectly without Jesus! Very soon you guys, Satan will come and the holy city, Jerusalem right at Zion, at the Mount of Olives will be a desolation, that abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet in Mark 13 and Daniel 9:27. We need that gospel armor on us, keeping in God’s Word so we can watch and be useful to the Lord by helping warn the people of the signs of the end of this earth age. If you are trying and doing your part, you have nothing to fear, but only to look forward to the Lord’s return. Rejoice right now today, and be at rest, that way that witness can shine out on the world today which can be very hopeless. Moving along here:
Titus 3:6 “Which He shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour;”
So then by Jesus’ righteous action of giving up His life for all of us that believe on Him, the opportunity as in John 3:16 is for all nations, for the people of Israel as well as whomsoever believes. That Saviour, Who once you taste of His truth, you never thirst, or have anything to worry about or to fear. Again, we will have challenges in life, but that makes us stronger, ready servants, and remember God’s election are the soldiers on the front line. Warning the troops, guess what that enemy Satan is coming it will be in our generation. Put your gospel armor on, which is God’s Word, and be ready! Then let’s go here as Jesus blood which HE shed for our sins, is represented by that testament, or promise of His blood covering us, as by the law we would all fail as here:
Matthew 26:27 “And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink ye all of it;”
Matthew 26:28 “For this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
And also as here:
Mark 14:23 “And He took the cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them: and they all drank of it.”
Mark 14:24 “And He said unto them, “This is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.”
Some teach you only need the New Testament of God’s Word, no way! Jesus, Himself, is quoting from the Old Testament, the law and the prophets for a newcomer to God’s Word, as we have to know what was foretold to see the reality of what happened. For example, when Jesus was dying on the cross, being brutally crucified for all of our sins, bleeding, in His last hour reciting Psalms 22, the entire Psalms, teaching us, hey My Father’s Word told you all this would happen in detail all of the events. Then also here let’s go:
Acts 2:31 “He seeing this before, spake of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell, neither His flesh did see corruption.”
Acts 2:32 “Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
Ghost (Strong’s 4151) a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, vital principle, mental disposition, (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy Spirit.
Jesus then after dying a physical death and resurrected, taking His rightful seat on God’s throne also in Psalms 110:1. Jesus during His time in the tomb, in that hell teaching the people who had come before Jesus back to Noah’s time giving them all the opportunity of eternal life as we all have, as God is so fair with all peoples of all times:
I Peter 3:18 “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”
I Peter 3:19 “By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison,”
I Peter 3:20 “Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.”
Again, all of us the unjust, never able to live this life perfectly according to the law in the flesh, that the Just Jesus did die for all sin one time. That way we all can go directly to God, right to His throne, pray directly to Him, not through some man or priest, but right to God, in His Name Jesus Christ! What a blessing that is for us all. And how God is so fair, that all those spirits in prison, so basically everyone before He came except Noah and His family as nobody could live perfectly in this life in the flesh. Only the Lord Jesus Christ. Let His Word make you quickened, or alive, bringing you hope and joy and peace. Then also let’s go here:
Romans 5:5 “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Romans 5:6 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”
Then that love, just as the blood as Jesus shed for us all, His outward action of love, is shed within us. Not us again, but the Holy Spirit of the Lord filling us with His love and His hope. All the way again up to Christ’s time we all were without strength or the ability to live perfectly in the flesh, but at Jesus’ rightful time according to God’s Word as He foretold us that He would come, Jesus died for us all, the ungodly. Then moving along here:
Titus 3:7 “That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
heirs (Strong’s 2818) (in its original sense of partitioning, i.e. getting by apportionment); a share by lot, i.e. an inheritor; a possessor; (from Strong’s 2819) (through the idea of using bits of wood, for the purpose); a die (for drawing chances); a portion (as if so secured); an acquisition (especially a patrimony, or property inherited by one’s father or ancestors), and (from Strong’s base of 3551 in its original sense of partitioning, i.e. getting by apportionment) (to parcel out, especially food or grazing to animals); law (through the idea of prescriptive usage), regulation, specific (of Moses including the volume; also of the Gospel); a principle, law.
Each one of us justified, or made right again, as when we ask Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ to be forgiven of our sins, it’s like the sins never happened. We start all over again, we have a clean slate, all that sin wiped away by the blood of Jesus the only One able to do that for us all. We are then heirs, meaning giving our lots or our inheritance, or portion, according to our actions and how we did in life. So remember to repent, and then try and sin no more, doing your best job to continue along, hopefully. This is very interesting that the base word Strong’s 2819 of heirs means bits of wood, like paper is made from wood and we read that Word of God. Also the base word Strong’s 3551 means to parcel out food or grazing for animals, like the Word of God is the food that we enjoy, giving us that spiritual meat we need to make it in the flesh. To be happy, full of peace and ready, wiling and able to help and serve joyfully! We have that inheritance right now, so take the Word in, and eat it up! Then moving along here:
Titus 3:8 “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”
Affirm constantly in your work, family, home encouraging your co-workers, managers, family members, friends and even strangers you meet. That way that affirmation that the Lord truly lives within you is seen, that witness of being someone with lots of faith and encouragement God so loves too! Moving along here:
Titus 3:9 “But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.”
law (Strong’s 3544) according (pertaining) to law, i.e. legal as noun, an expert in the Mosaic law; lawyer.
Remember we are talking about setting up the church, so regarding people’s family names or titles, like queen, even like Jr. or Sr. or I, III or and so on. God is not a respecter of persons. If you want to trace your family tree back to find out for your own benefit, that’s fine, but not like some churches trying to be in that 144,000, which each 12,000 represent each tribe of Israel as in Revelation Chapter 7. Also, take not the word "law" here means like a lawyer, or using the Word of Gord as an attorney would. For we know here:
Revelation 7:9 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”
What do we see here but people of every nation and race and language right at God’s throne and they were overcomers, believers with palms in their hands, with lots of righteous actions wearing the righteous actions of Revelation 19:7-8 their white linen clothing! The only genealogy we need to be concerned about is that of the Lord’s as in Luke Chapter 3 showing the family in which He came through from Adam, Seth, as in Genesis Chapter 5, as Cain is not in the Lord’s family, but of the serpent seed, or Satan’s offspring, Cain, as in Genesis 3:15, with Genesis Chapter 4 listing Cain’s family names separately. That is what we need to focus on! Then moving along here:
Titus 3:10 “A man that is an heretick, after the first and second admonition reject;”
Titus 3:11 “Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.”
heretick (Strong’s 141) a schismatic, or division into opposing groups; heretic; (from the same as Strong’s 140) to make a choice.
subverted (Strong’s 1612) to pervert.
Someone that is a heretick or divides the group, maybe having another belief, as look at our church systems today. If someone is starting trouble then in the church, then after the second time after admonishing them, or warning them, get rid of them. Cut the root out before it begins to grow. That person then is perverted in their thinking, causing trouble. As Jesus warned when about the leaven, meaning the false doctrine of religion or the Sadducees and Pharisees:
Matthew 16:5 “And when His disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.”
Matthew 16:6 “Then Jesus said unto them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”
Matthew 16:7 “And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”
Matthew 16:8 “Which when Jesus perceived, He said unto them, “O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?”
Matthew 16:9 “Do ye not understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?”
Matthew 16:10 “Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?”
Matthew 16:11 “How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?”
Matthew 16:12 “Then understood they how that He bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees of the Sadducees.”
That is what we are talking about here regarding perversion when it comes to the Word of God. When large groups come together be warned as this will happen lots of new ideas will try to creep in. That is how Satan works best at the pulpit or in churches. Again, why do you think we have so much controversy amongst the many churches, and so many denominations. So when teaching God’s Word, be careful, get rid of any trouble always checking out the teacher, pastor or leader, in the Word of God by what is taught. Continuing along here:
Titus 3:12 “When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.”
Artemas (Strong’s 734) gift of Artemas.
Tychicus (Strong’s 5190) fortuitous, i.e. fortunate; Tychicus, a Christian; (from a derivative of Strong’s 5177) to make ready or bring to pass; through the idea of effecting; to hit or light upon (as a mark to be reached), i.e. to attain or secure, or to happen (as if meeting with).
Then here Paul having Artemas, meaning gift of Artemas with him, and Tychicus, meaning fortunate, or light upon, as they were both teachers of God’s Word. That way God was using Paul to spread out His Word, teaching the people, as remember in:
Acts 9:15 “But the Lord said unto him, “Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:”
Acts 9:16 “For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
Gentiles (Strong’s 1484) a race (as of the same habit), i.e. a tribe; specific a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually by implication pagan); Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
God used Paul, His servant, to teach three groups, the Gentiles, or all nations not from Israel, their election, or their kings and queens, as well as the people of Israel. Paul as well as those with him suffered many challenges, again know that you will be the target of Satan as God is doing a good work through His election, setting up the church and teaching the people the Word. Don’t be afraid for the Lord gives His people power over all enemies, especially for that day when Satan will be here in the flesh:
Luke 10:17 “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name.”
Luke 10:18 “And He said unto them, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”
Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Luke 10:20 “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
Be happy if you have eyes to see and hear His Word with understanding, as your name is written in heaven, meaning you have overcome in the first earth age! You already stood with God before Satan, then by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ giving you the ability to fend off all enemies, including Satan! As Satan will fall from heaven to this earth literally in our near future as in Revelation 12:7-9, we need to be ready, and prepared with His Word. Giving the many people the armor of His Word, teaching them, so we all can stand against the devil, for it is God’s power, not our own. Then let’s go here:
Ephesians 6:21 “But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:”
Ephesians 6:22 “Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.”
Tychicus was a faithful minister in the Lord, meaning He gave out the Word of God to the flock, to the hungry people starving to hear the Word of the Lord. That again is the role of the church. Also here:
Colossians 4:7 “All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:”
Colossians 4:8 “Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;”
Another witness here, and a fellow servant of the Lord working alongside Paul, that in Titus 3:12 sending them to this church here, Paul, probably knowing this second trial would be his last, and then we know in history he was beheaded for teaching God’s Word. Then also let’s go here:
Titus 3:13 “Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.”
Zenas (Strong’s 2211) Jove-given; Zenas; (a poetic form of Strong’s 2203) Zeus, in the oblique cases there is used instead of it, a name, (and from Strong’s 1435) a present; specific a sacrifice, gift, offering.
Apollos (Strong’s 625) Apollos, an Israelite, (probably from the same as Strong’s 624) from the pagan deity; Apollonia, a place in Macedonia.
Then here Zenas, meaning Zeus given, and Apollos, his name meaning Apollonia a pagan deity, it’s kind of funny God used both these men with Greek god names bringing His Word along! God can use anyone He needs to, as they knew the language and the customs of the people, naturally the people would listen to them. Then Paul asking for their help to be sent to him quickly, again his second Roman trial coming up, as here:
Acts 18:24 “And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.”
Acts 19:1 “And it came to pass, that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples.”
Apollos who really knew the Word of God, a great speaker, someone God could use to further His Word to the people in Ephesus. Then moving along here:
I Corinthians 1:11 “For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.”
I Corinthians 1:12 “Now this I say, that every one of you saith, “I am of Paul”; and “I of Apollos”; and “I of Cephas”; and “I of Christ”.”
I Corinthians 1:13 “Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?”
Here we see the many church denominations being started by guess who? None other than Satan, trying to destroy God’s work! We know then Paul, as well as Apollos, and Cephas, meaning Peter, all great teachers of God’s Word, people were using their names to be called instead of as we do today use the name “Christian”! That is what we are to fight against, nipping in the bud, any division in the church, among the people, so this doesn’t happen. Then the question is Jesus divided? Of course not for:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:17 “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.”
What does it state right here? That whomsoever believeth in Him will not perish, meaning to be wiped totally out of existence, but have everlasting, or eternal life. Does it say who is a “Catholic”, or a “Mormon” or a “Baptist” or a “Seventh Day Adventist”, or a “Episcopalian”, or a member of the tribe of Judah, or a member of the tribe of Benjamin? No, of course it does not! That is the point here, that Christ, meaning we are His many membered Body, all the people make up the parts! Then the question in I Corinthians 1:13 did Paul die for you, or did “The Roman Catholic Church”, or “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints”, or “The Methodist Church”, or “The Baptist Church”, and so on and so on! No way! But the Lord Jesus Christ did die and His Word is His Name! That is Who we believe upon, not man, not men’s words, or religion, or church traditions, but the Word of God! Then finishing this up here:
Titus 3:14 “And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.”
Titus 3:15 “All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.”
Keep maintaining or living a Christian life so that you are not an easy target for someone to pick apart the good work that God is doing through you setting up the church, teaching the people, don’t supply the enemy, Satan, with any ammunition against you! That’s why always be fair, trying to do the best you can teaching the Word of God, as that is the sole purpose of the church. That’s it, plain and simple! Not a free for all social hour, that’s fine, but the focus is on teaching the people. Why? We are living in a very critical time, in the last days when guess what? Satan will come and sit in Jerusalem in God’s seat claiming to be God as we have gone through several times in II Thessalonians Chapter 2. Read it and I should say rejoice! For Jesus has overcome, we can be happy and enjoy our lives today and be effective for God, helping the people. I love you and He loves you most importantly. Thank Him for the Word of God as I do constantly, and keep in it. That is the only way to be successful. I know you can do it!
