Expose and Expel

Resentment is the mark of a proud heart
   resisting the goodness of God.
It seeks to tear apart, as if it was dark
   all that the Lord would laud.

It dares to proclaim, even against the Name,
   things the world applauds.
Unbelief is the song, with its dark refrain,
   raising up its false gods.

Expose and expel the offensive smell
   sensed by the Holiest Spirit.
Resentment is my enemy, by which I fell;
   He, my reason to fear it.

See His work as good; His good word as food,
   to conform us to Himself.
There division dies with your heart's alike;
   just let Him be your help.

Then you will see the Truth that sets you free;
   the key is obedience.
So don't resent the Lord, Who has not ignored,
   and bless Him with repentance.

In this day of life He will use all strife
   to shape us as His children.
Just don't hang on to what's soon gone;
   we're only here as pilgrims.

The thing you once resented He Himself presented
   to test your weary heart
      will soon become gold where glory unfolds
         because you didn't depart.
