Many years ago women and men
Desiring religious freedom came unto this land
Many battles were fought and many lives were lost
But with that desire for freedom they paid the cost
And a nation was born where all could be free
To worship God with their families
So thankful were they, they thought it a must
To inscribe somewhere In God We Trust
And down through the years God truly blessed
The nation grew strong and in wealth it progressed
As other nations looked up to our land
But I'm afraid that somewhere along the way
American people have forgotten to pray
Asking God's direction for each passing day
We're much too busy seeking wealth and fame
We've strayed too far from his dear name
Today our land is filled with sin. violence and strife
Because for God we could find no timeNumerous disasters have touched our land
Death and destruction at the terrorist's hand
But God sees our tears as many they fall
And his offer of peace and comfort extendx to all
So let all who believe begin today
Get down on your knees and begin to pray
To God the creator up above
He is ever reaching down his hands in love
His promises are true, this battle we can win
But first we must repent of all our sins
Sins of greed, envy,hatred and lust
To once again become that country where "In God We Trust
