WHY SHOULD YOU DEAL WITH IT? 4
God could not keep silent about David’s conduct. He had to confront him with the impact of his actions through Nathan. After the Lord told David “I know what you did with Uriah and his wife” through Nathan, He prophesied impending doom on David’s family. He declared “The sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah to be your own. Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you.” (2 Samuel 12:10-11).
Sin always deals a deadly blow on the family. Every corrupt leader came from a family. I wonder if such individuals would have been better leaders if they had been raised with godly values in the family. When sin invades the family, it destroys it.
I heard the true life story of a woman on radio. The father was guilty of adultery with another woman. He was doing well in his career but neglected his wife and children. He later moved in with the other woman. The first child (a woman) struggled to get educated. While in the University, she was introduced to prostitution and drug trafficking. As a result of abortion, she cannot bear children. When her father lost his job, the other woman drove him out. He tried to reconcile with his wife and children. The children agreed to reject him. Sin destroyed what could have been a successful family.
Every tendency to do wrong has a negative impact on the family. As we pray and stand for truth in our family and nation, we will succeed.
