I had gone to the dumps
to lose some of my trash.
I found a lovely in a slump,
so sad, sitting in ash.
I asked her "Why," after "Hello",
"Why are you so down?"
"Under this sun, ever so mellow,
there's no need to frown."
She gave me her reason (I won't write it here)
her story in mind to stay.
Her voice trembled with such fear
my answer seemed to betray.
I gave reason for her to cheer,
my words were met with silence.
Though persuasive I could not clear;
her sadness I failed to quench.
So I turned to walk away,
not happy with my failure.
In my sadness I then prayed,
then sat in the ash with her.
