The manager of a recording studio asked the young man, "What kind of singer are you?" "Aw, I sing all kinds." "Who do you sound like?" "I Don't sound like nobody."
Elvis Presley was right; he "Don't sound like nobody." His sound was uniquely his own. The people who make it in any field are the ones with their own sound or look or feel their own style. Imitators may do alright, but the original is the one in demand.
I would love to have Billy Graham address the saints in our little corner. I could care less about having the myriads who sound like him. The same is true of a number of preachers I know personally. Love to have them, no interest in the studied imitators.
I am not attempting to turn off my friends, I simply want to encourage you and perhaps a few enemies to learn to be and create in the manner God had in mind when He called you.
It is true we are to be imitators of Christ, but this is to be done as the Spirit leads and works keeping in mind that it really is impossible to be a very accurate imitation. Even each hair of your head is numbered differently.
Accept God's work in you, accept what He has for you and get with it.
1 Corinthians 11:1 "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ."
"How important and necessary
it is for us to have an
authentic faith shown by its
works, and authentic love in
deed and in truth; to be
authentic Christians who are
zealous for the kingdom of
GOD and good works."
