If it had been any other man
He could have gotten her back.
Death had wooed her as one damned,
attacking like a wolf pack.
She loved him* more than their lives,
deceived by his seduction.
Her joy of the Lord failed to thrive,
numb to any compunction.
Death as a rival, less than survival,
the end was its own means.
Blind to the Life revealed in the Bible,
the One who ever redeems.
She offended the Truth and Life,
failing to recall the Way.
It was her answer for her strife,
not seeing a need to pray.
She slept with Death, deep in the dark
of her darkened heart.
Quenched the Spirit with His spark,
desiring to depart.
As sin it easily deceives
to her it seemed so good.
If not for the Lord that faithfully retrieves
she would have been Death's food.
"Now there you are, wincing in shame,
surrounded by those you've hurt.
I wonder if you are bound to the Name
while you wallow in the dirt.
"While you have breath you have Hope,
may you be so convicted,
that you may leave that deadly slope
for Him who's resurrected."
You may see his words as cruel
but know that they are kindness.
May you see this as a loving tool
to free you of the cruel blindness.

*"him", Death.
I wrote this for someone, who had a significant other who attempted suicide. I sought to express the feelings, thoughts and beliefs of the one who had almost lost the one they cared for, and who saw the attempt as an indication of what that person, the suicidal, was all about. While it is good to know the person failed at their third attempt it is apparent this poor soul needs help. They are a very dangerous person who does nothing to evoke trust in themselves from others. Pray for them, please.
