The Precious Ones

As I walked along the street one day, I saw some ugly faces,
All disgraceful in different ways, and all from various places.
I saw a filthy, dusty bum, with drunken eyes that glared,
A cockroach in a world of doves, so angrily I stared.
I saw a tight-clothed vixen, sealed with leather at the rear,
Her skin did seep, her midriff showed, she was asking for my stare!
I watched an obese joker pass, so grotesque he didn't care,
His smile showed a chocolate tooth, and so I stopped to stare.
And then there was the teenage punk, with green and purple hair,
His nose was jabbed with steel galore, I couldn't hep but stare!

As he looked down on the street that day, he saw some beautiful faces,
All so special in different ways, all from different places.
He saw Mr. Evans, the former veteran, who fought in times of war,
He lost his arm, and lost his wife, and wished to live no more.
He saw Ms. Sarah Jackson, who runs the children's theater,
Her smile dances as she helps the kids, she's a pleasure to all who meet her.
He observed Joe Clement walking by, he handled his illness so well,
By looking at his happy face, a stranger could never tell.
He watched yound Teddy Johnson, his dad on drugs, his mom a whore,
Although a bit eccentric, each day he loved God more and more.
But wait, who was that angry stranger, who stopped to judge each passer-by?
His heart was filled with anger, even he did not know why!
The man had no fatal ailmets, his wife did love him dear,
He had a doctorate in his field, money was not a care.
He had the best of everything, a house up on a hill,
A car that gleamed with elegance, but was not happy still.
The only thing he lacked was God, and love for all mankind,
The luxuries of life had seemed, to only make him blind.
As he looked down on the street that day,his heart was sad, he lost a son,
But he loved that man, despite his faults, he loved each precious one.
