My daddy's stronger than a lion

“A lion can’t eat my daddy. My daddy’s stronger than a lion.” Oh how I wish that were true! If I were strong than a lion I could probably just go ahead and consider myself a superhero. You know like Superman, Spiderman, or Batman. Just call me Dan the Man. Yeah, and then reality came a knocking.

My two little girls got on the subject of lions eating people. Don’t ask me how, but somehow I came out invincible. As a child, we see everything around us as bigger, stronger, and more exaggerated. Remember that tree in your back yard that housed a mansion of a treehouse. Remember that ladder to climb up to the secret hideaway. It took an hour to climb up that thing. It was so high up it could barely be seen. The treehouse itself was so big you could probably fit an elephant in it, or so you told your friends.

Then you get to go back and revisit that ginormous condo on “Oak St.”. But as you walk up to it and you can actually peer over the threshold of the doorway into the treehouse, it doesn’t seem so big. No wonder God wants us to look at Him through the eyes of a child so often. This is the only way He can get us to keep within us that bigger than life grandeur of who He is. Unlike a treehouse that actually seems to shrink as we get older, God only gets bigger. However, with life and how busy it becomes as we get older we only digress in our perspective of God rather than progress. Instead of growing in understanding to enter a realization that God is infinite in size, space, holiness, truth, strength, and love, we minimize Him to a box. In that box is the Creator of the universe who is requested only when He is needed.

I am not stronger than a lion. It took a lot for me to admit that, but truth is I’m not. As a matter of fact it is no contest. A lion would devour me in less time than it took to for me to type this sentence, and I am a pretty decent typist. Lions are everywhere. God’s says that Satan is like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. We are not strong enough alone. But you guessed it, God is. God is stronger infinite times infinite as my daughter would put it. Satan is not. God is more than enough. God is always ready to take on the lions for you. Question is do you still look at God as your Daddy that is stronger than a lion?
