Many people think that only being "born again" is the thing that gets us to heaven and that it’s just unfortunate that we currently live in these sinful, physical bodies in this world.
I believe that one can not be "born again" unless they are born first !! (which is the physical birth of course). So, for some reason (that only God knows) it is absolutely crucial to have a physical birth and live in physical bodies, such as we do, in order to get into heaven. It is essential to understand that living in physical bodies is no accident - or just something to be endured until we get to the "real life" in heavenly bodies. This may be, and probably is, true and that living in heaven is true living. But living this life here on earth should not be snubbed at. Living a life here in physical bodies is also completely; absolutely a necessity for aiding my journey into heaven as well. Being “born first” and living here is just as important as being “born again” is toward my journey to heaven.
So, what am I to do here on earth that’s so necessary? I’m very curious about what God has in mind for me to do while I am here. I never ask God “why” – I wouldn’t understand the “why” of it even if He were to try to explain it to me.
Here’s what I believe I could be living here for. It is for a maturing process; that there are lessons I could be going through and things I could be trying to do - and grow through - in my journey to heaven, and that learning these lessons and doing these things could be pretty helpful in the process toward getting into heaven – growing up for heaven.
The Most Essential Lesson I believe I must learn while here on earth however, and that stands as the number one vital lesson -- to accept, and to strengthen faith - that Jesus Christ is the only way to God, and to choose Jesus; and not this world.
Another one of these lessons, I believe, is to strengthen my ability to view my fellow beings with mercy and forgiveness. It’s interesting that we are surrounded by imperfection on all sides in the form of other physical beings. There are a gazillion opportunities to for me to practice the art of forgiveness. And also, that I learn that I myself am an imperfect physical being as well and that those around me must learn to forgive ME! just as much as I could be learning to forgive them.
Becoming aware that I have sin in me (am imperfect) is also, I believe, a lesson to be learned; that this lesson is used to strengthen my ability to take humility to the heart.
One of the lessons I am currently “growing through” is to learn how to become a grown-up in my Christian walk, and what the word “grown-up” entails, I am beginning to find out.
These are only four of the mirade of lessons, I think, could be learned while I’m traveling through the process of living here, in this physical body on earth.
Another reason I am here is to do my best to carry the message of the Love of Christ to my neighbors. I could be salt and light to the world around me. To bring good savor and brightness to the world so that others would become interested in what I have to offer which is that God deeply loves them and wants them to come to Christ and so become his children.
Lastly, I wish to say that I don’t begrudge being here in this physical form at all. I’m glad – grateful - to be born into this physical body since I know that my Father has set it up for me this way; to go through this process in order to get to His kingdom. Just as it is good to be in spirit form; because God has set it up this way, it is just as good to be in this physical body form as well.
