One quest since my conversion is learning how to balance two biblical statements. Of course there are other things that must be sorted out. The two for today are in 2 Timothy 3:7 "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." The other 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
The first is given to describe apostates and rascals and the other 2Tim 2:15 to sincere folk who are learning the discipline of following Jesus. I fall into the latter group, thankfully.
A very successful man understood the difference and urged all who would listen with this, "All of us must become better informed. It is necessary for us to learn from others' mistakes. You will not live long enough to make them all yourself." Admiral Hyman Rickover.
He said when testifying about his sterling record in Nuclear Energy "Any successful program functions as an integrated whole of many factors. Trying to select one aspect as the key one will not work. Each element depends on all the others."
Many in my calling have and are making the oft repeated mistake of failing to acknowledge the proper function of the body of Christ. Each Christian as part of the whole is dependent upon the proper function of the other. You are very important.
