What was she thinking?
06/12/2012
She is sitting atop of a donkey. There is an open field of wild flower surrounding her. In her left arm and upon her lap is a small, almost totally concealed baby. Deep in the background you can make out the form of a man, following. The expression on her face is not one of fear of uncertainty. It is the look of Love and light as she looks down upon her child.
This portrait hangs on a wall in my living room and I often times look at it especially in times of trouble; and wonder...What was she thinking?
Was she thinking about why she was on the run with her child from murders? Or what fate might await her upon their arrival in eqypt...the place of former bondage? Or was she continually grieving for the inevitable horrific death of her firstborn son?
I am sure that these thoughts came into her mind from time to time and I am sure the battle was fierce especially the passion. How did she handle that pressure? The pressure of knowing that this precious, helpless, dependant child is, was, and will be...the Son of God and savior of the world.
The Lord showed me in Luke 1:45-56 what Mary knew, I mean knew. from the time the Holy Ghost came upon her. It was this:
I call it The testimony/prophecy of Mary Mother of Jesus
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
And Mary said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden; for, behold, from here forth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arms, he hath scatted the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats and exalted them of low degree. he hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spake to our fathers to Abraham, and to his seed forever."
She condensed all things relating this age in a single paragraph. I think she remembered these sayings always as a comfort in times of great trouble.
She is telling us to remember the promise for it will help to comfort you in these times of great trouble and those yet to come.
God's Mercy and Strength are with you always.
