I was locked in a dungeon,
I was there for many years.
my feet & hands were in shackles,
my silent pain no one can hear.
The shackle on my left hand was drugs,
The shackle on my right hand was alcohol.
My hands were full of wrong doing,
Full but drained, alive but not moving.
the shackle on my left foot was bad friends,
That's whom I'm kicked it with.
The shackle on my right foot was pride,
Living my way was no myth.
all I saw was darkness,
Became confused & heartless.
I yelled, "what dungeon is this?
I don't want to remain in this place!"
then I heard footsteps,
Coming toward my way.
A ray of light shown underneath the door,
My concern of who it was grew more & more.
Door opened with a creek,
I saw a man in white who looked at me.
He said, "I am Jesus.
I paid the full price to set you free.
I came to take you out of this dungeon.
You don't belong in this place."
Then he took off my shackles,
wiped the dirt off my face.
my heart melted as I followed him,
I was strengthen like never before.
in the sea of freedom I began to swim,
I will never forget the man who arrived at my door.
this dungeon was my life,
When I left with that man
was when I received Christ.
He took me out of darkness,
He removed my chains of sin
& my old way of life
