Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
James 1:23-24 (NIV)
There are all kinds of things that stick, glue, tape, epoxy, and even silly putty. When we want to keep something together or in sight we, staple it, nail it, screw it, paper clip it, mount it, tie it and stick it. When we want something to stick we make it stick. We are good stickers. Other things we want to stick friendships, relationships, jobs, finances, possessions, and marriages. We even call marriage, tying the knot. We want our marriages to stick, we donít want it to come apart so we tie it tight and we make it stick.
Education is another thing we want to stick, so we can use it later. It comes in handy for jobs, finances, day to day life and even on game shows. We donít want to things, so we use it often. There is an old saying, if you donít use it, youíll lose it. So repetition is important, repetition is important. I for one canít remember Spanish or algebra since I donít use it and I have no idea what a dangling participle is.
The word of God is like this. We must put it into practice daily. We must live it. We must use it in all areas of our lives. We must make it stick. Someone asked how do you get to Carnegie Hall, the other person said, ďPractice, practice practiceĒ. When we read Godís Word, the Holy Bible he tells us how to live. He tells us what a Christ follower looks like. If we donít put that into use we may forget. We need to take the word of God and stick it to our hearts by living and practicing it. We must practice it daily, we must practice it daily. Remember repetition is good, repetition is good. Read Godís Word. Live it, use it, and open your heart and let it stick.
