Chapter 41 In Memory of My Mom

“My wonderful Father, thank you for speaking to the rumblings of thunder rising in the distance within me. The lightning strikes in my mind lit up the faces of my husband, my daughter, her boyfriend and my brother. I have been sailing on peaceful waters and glorying in your presence.

But I will be meeting with other boats on the horizon soon, which will tend to make waves that will batter my boat. I give you permission to allow them to enter my tranquil waters and speak to them your command, “Peace, be still,” and speak to my heart, “Be still and know that I am God.” “Be anxious for nothing, but in prayer and supplication, let your needs be made known unto God,and He will answer thee.” “Fear not, neither be afraid, for I, the Lord your God, am with you always.”

Those who will be present at Mom’s memorial have a divine appointment made by God. This time is ordered of the Lord. I can feel it. I have known it and I have sensed it from the moment of conception, when God planted the idea in my heart. I have been faithful to nurture it, water it, weed it and cultivate it, and pray for Sonshine to make it grow. I need not be overwhelmed, just obedient to the Spirit moving within me, and allow the Son to shine and touch lives with His warmth and love.

It is late afternoon, the first day I have had a good cry. How can it be described as good? I felt a sense of loneliness that took me completely by surprise. I had begun to feel the need for intercessory prayer as the day, July 8th, approached. All is under the Blood: resentment, blame, sorrow, needing forgiveness, compassion, and joy; for the family I was born into and the family God gave me...

All things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18

There can be no reconciliation without forgiveness. Can a heart experience true forgiveness with another without first finding true repentance and reconciliation with God? I pray for repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation....discontentment makes rich men poor; contentment makes poor men rich...

I am truly rich, blessed with contentment and peace. My outward circumstances must be considered; but, I want for nothing, save the same thing for each of my children. By God’s infinite grace, this greatest gift of all shall also be theirs.

Jesus Christ is the Rock. O break us, crush us upon that Rock. Break our pride, our sin, our guilt. Break our stubbornness, our self-will, our self-righteousness, our need to be justified. Reduce us to humility, brokenness, forgiving ourselves, and forgiving others. Fill us with meekness, gentleness of Spirit, compassion and kindness. Bestow the riches of Your Spirit upon us; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience,
Goodness and Self-Control...

He came from heaven to earth to show the way; from the earth to the cross, our sins to pay; from the cross to the grave; from the grave to the sky; Lord, I lift your name on high...

As my nine-year old granddaughter and I sang the melody and mimed the motions we had practiced together, peace filtered through the trees to the family below...
