"I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." John 10:10
Jesus speaks the truth always and he simply said that he came so that we might enjoy a full life.
The apostles not only had a full life, living, and eating with him, but it became even more full once Jesus rose and went to heaven. We are also living in the same era as the first eleven apostles.
God raised the dead, healed, did miracles, cast out demons with Jesus's followers. As his disciples now, we should also have the same kind of ministry. Surely that is our right, and ought to be our expectation.
Some Biblical characters had a full faith life and were wealthy by human standards too. Abraham and David were. Each person is unique and God gives individually to each as He wills.
Surely we are meant to enjoy life. Home life, hobbies, leisure time, family and friends time, work, the Christian life. Surely we are meant to be joyful, cheerful, happy and strong in faith. God is a mighty, powerful God; surely He should be protecting and delivering us, and keeping us from temptation. Surely we should have a mighty and powerful ministry.
In the natural surely we are meant to do interesting things and lead full lives. We should be industrious and happy, as well as prosperous.
Thank you for this inspiring article. Indeed Christ gave us an abundant life, a fruitful life that flows "like a stream of living water." The Apostles had a full life focused on the kingdom purposes Jesus laid before them, and not on the fleeting things of "prosperity" found in this world.
