Naive innocent butterfly
Lighthearted and playful
Scurrying, hovering
Dancing so graceful
You've not known sorrow
Heart-ache or pain
The world has not touched you
With anguish bitter rain
You only know of the gentle breeze
Among the fields of flowers
No thought of what might lie ahead
You flit and play for hours
Unfurl now your lovely wings
Make haste and fly away
Before captured by a net
To become a show-n-tell display
Naive innocent butterfly
May you never know or see
The uncaring, heartless ways
A cruel world can be.
