God Loves to See Spirits Broken

God loves to see spirits broken
Only then can true words be spoken
Our outpouring of anguish and tears
Are but beautiful music to his ears

When our hearts are sorely breaking
Our prayers are such of a undertaking
This is when our feelings are real
No practiced promises or appeals

When we ask of help from the Lord
Broken, beaten, weary and sore
The truth comes from deep inside
Insincere thoughts are cast aside

With shattering souls we do not lie
Behind false walls we cannot hide
A broken spirit reveals the truth
A heart torn apart can be renewed

This is when God loves us the most
When we are reaching, when we are lost
Until we reach the end of our rope
He cannot heal and give us hope

God loves to see spirits broken
Prayers then are not merely tokens
Until we fall down upon our knees
Salvation for us cannot be redeemed
