Your Pastor is Worthy of Double Honor, Pay More to Those in Godís Ministry
Our Lord blesses evangelists and pastors as they are more involved in Godís work than others and probably are in the best job in the sight of God.
I see them as Princes of the King of Kings and so must enjoy material inheritance and blessings.
Aaron and the subsequent priests in the Old Testament had specific responsibilities related to the Temple worship and were given the best of the sacrificed things. The tithe they received guaranteed the financial security of the priests.
Godís work must be done efficiently. Those who do Lordís work must be well educated, must be well versed with science and technology, must have been brilliant as students and must have got themselves exposed to knowledge in all spheres of life in the world. This deserves them more income.
There is always a feeling of jealousy when someone acquires a luxury. We all had either been in the receiving or the giving end in some point of time. When Godís ministry expands, so does the list of needs. Understand them when they buy more.
If an athlete trips and falls down, the spectators start saying reasons for his fall. An athlete spent hours in exercises, subjecting his body to tremendous training with perseverance, controlling his habits. The spectators never underwent all these; they are lazy people watching and passing comments on his fall. We do not do evangelism and spend more time in meditation on the word of God whereas an evangelist or a pastor does it either on compulsion or passion. I can see God smiling at an evangelist or a pastor when he trips and falls and stops smiling at us who just condemn.
Those who are in preaching and teaching ministries put forth very hard work and are worthy of double honor.
ďThe elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, ĎDo not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grainí and ĎThe worker deserves his wages.í (1 Timothy 5: 17 and 18)
ďIf others have this right of support from you, shouldn't we have it all the more?Ē (1 Corinthians 9:12)
ďThe hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.Ē (2 Tim. 2:6, 7).
Those in Godís ministry must enjoy a salary with regular rise, comfortable residential accommodation, reimbursement of medical and study expenses and facilities like pensions, holidays and right length of working hours. A pastor is more vulnerable to Satanís attacks. He deserves encouragement and support.
