Here it is again…
opened up my facebook page at 7am…
I hit the icon that takes me to
“my wall”…
and there is a
sappy
syrupy
sweet
saccharine
picture
on my “wall”…
full
of
flowers pink!
and
girly
swirly
curly cues….
that extol the on-going
mystery
beauty
confusion
comfort
of the mother-daughter relationship.
I pause...
I stop.
I agree…
with everything
in this little “shared” picture
and the words that are
cut
and
pasted
across
the hearts and flowers image.
The picture
and words
are
sappy
syrupy
sweet…
sacchrine
I debate 10 seconds…
then I make a decision
to “share” this picture…
on my facebook page.
I know
that at least 20 of my
so-called
451
“friends”
will see it.
As anticipated…
A handful
Of “friends”
that I barely know…and
some who didn’t even
know my
decidedly
NOT
sweet
syrupy
sacchrine
daughter...
will give me
“likes”,
and two
even
wrote something
kind...
which I
"liked"
back.
After re-posting,
I re-read
the picture
about mother
daughter
relationships
and how important
they are...
and
I
decided
to keep the picture on my page.
The words
though
sticky…
and for me…
a bit tricky…
are still true…
They are as true for me today
as they were when she walked the same
Earth as me.
As I got up
from the computer
to get another cup of coffee…
I paused.
I looked out my kitchen window.
I let the tears slide
and they were sticky
and sweet
and full of pure...
sugared...
emotion...
About her beautiful,
bittersweet life…
her memory
her presence
on this planet
and thoughts of her are
worth
every
corny
every
too-true
every
overly
sentimental
picture
ever posted on facebook.
My eighth Mothers’ Day without her…
