Lavender lady, your perfume is known,
infused your scent in our food, how you've grown
over each garden and under the earth.
Lavender lady, we know of your worth.
Befriended Rosemary, known by all folk,
served at each banquet of crackling pork.
Her friend is Parsley, flavoursome, green,
introduced Thyme as you never had seen!
Sage made a bouquet with onion, all wrapped.
Lavender lady named them a la carte.
Her special menu for this Mother's Day
is to give thanks for our children at play.
Meantime our kids will fight with the bees,
in the garden for flowers their Mothers won't see!
They're hidden beneath little toys, little beds
'til the morning when they feel she ought to be fed.
So, Mother, presented with her breakfast tray
gives thanks for cold coffee, burnt toast, yet she says;
Lavender lady, your perfume is known.
Thank you for showing me how I have grown.
