As a Christian, one of the best ways to gain a proper perspective when youíre feeling overwhelmed by your circumstances is to recognize who youíre in relationship with. Itís difficult to really grasp how small a flower is until you measure it against a mountain. In Romans 8:31 the Apostle Paul eloquently lays out for us the reality of who God is ďÖif God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall God who is with Christ also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against Godís elect? It is God who justifies. Who is the one who condemns?Ē
ďItís Christ who died and furthermore is also risen who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor heights nor depths, nor any other created things, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.Ē
If youíre still feeling overwhelmed, then I encourage you to spend a little more time developing your relationship with Jesus. Merely reading this passage of scripture from Godís Word to understand it in your mind is much different than knowing it down in your spirit where it can give you the same assuredness that has comforted martyrs for the cause of Christ down through the centuries and given them the peace that passes all understanding even to the point of death without denouncing their faith.
Are we there yet? Have you arrived in a place where no circumstance can steal your peace and joy, where even the gates of hell canít prevail against the kingdom of heaven that resides within your heart? Donít just lip it, friend, live it with a passion that canít be extinguished.
