Children
Genesee and the Fearful Bear
Genesee was a little Indian princess. She lived on a reservation, and her family was poor. She had little in the way of material things, but she didn't miss them. She would rather be in the woods with her animal friends anyway.
Genesee was a child of God. She attended Sunday School and Church at the little Christian Church on the reservation every week. She knew Jesus in her heart and loved everyone and everyone loved her. Her faith in Jesus had given her an enchanted life and she feared nothing.
Genesee loved to run wild in the woods because Jesus had given her a special gift. She had a way with the animals. They would come right up to her, unafraid. Rabbits, birds, even squirrels would eat right out of her hands. She would spend hours in the forest playing with and talking to animals of every kind.
One day, for the very first time, Genesee saw a bear. He came towards her and then suddenly stopped. He looked at her for a minute and then ran away. Strange, thought the little Indian girl, animals never ran from her.
That night Genesee told her daddy what had happened with the bear.
“Bears fear people, Genesee, and animals in fear can hurt you.“ Daddy said. “You must be careful.”
The next day Genesee went back into the forest and saw the bear from a distance. This time he stood up, looked at her for a long time, saw that she seemed unafraid, therefore he had nothing to fear, and then returned to all fours and ambled away.
After that day, Genesee would see the bear in the woods and he would look her way, and calmly go about his business. He seemed to realize they were part of the same Creations of God and could exist in the same forest without harm to one another.
Now bears really are afraid of people and we should never approach one in the woods, but wouldn’t it be a wonder if we could all live that way? Without fear of one another we could all live as a part of the same Creator, without fighting, without war. If only all people believed in Jesus, there would be no more fear, and no more wars, and people could live in peace. Peace on earth.
What a wonderful world that would be.

Lynn--This was precious. Oh, "if only". It would be wonderful--and that is why we are to tell others about Him. We know how Revelation ends. It will be like that one day. Thank you for your story. I enjoyed it.
