It’s interesting to note that switch on your lamp controlling the 3-way bulb is under your control. There’s no switch you can flip at the energy plant. In other words, how bright you shine for God is entirely up to you. If you give greater access to the Lord by flipping your spiritual switch to a higher setting, you’ll not only emanate more light, the brightness of your countenance will be increased as well. First John verse 5 says “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” Are you having trouble lighting the room with your dim setting? It’s not about atmosphere, but dispelling the darkness.
It’s amazing how increasing the brightness around you dispels the fear in your own life. You also feel more confident in the decisions requiring your attention. Fellowship with the Lord increases our wattage, and when we shine brighter for God our fellowship with one another is more vibrant as well. This passage in First John begins with a hope that your joy becomes full. The secret to deep contentment that manifests itself as the joy of the Lord is revealed in the person of Jesus. The mere mention of His Name should bring about great sentiment to the Christian in the overflowing appreciation for His great sacrifice for our sins.
Unless you’ve experienced the certainty of knowing that you know that you know you have eternal life through accepting Jesus into your heart, then your spiritual journey is lacking dimension. The emptiness in you is not filled if your spiritual life has not been sealed in the truth which for all times has been given as a gift to mankind and cannot be revoked by mere doubt or the conjecture of man. It is infallible and the Spirit of God inside you testifies to your heart with a peace that indeed passes all understanding.
