In my life I've seen stories about Firemen, Policemen, Soldiers and everyday people put their lives at risk to save someone else. No anyone else. Yes even criminals, gang members or whatever. It doesn't mater to these heroes, they just rush in to flames or handing off the edge of a cliff. They dive down under water and fight to get car doors open. We all saw on Sept. 11 heroes run into those burning towers and give their lives for people they didn't know.
I ask myself, did those that survived ask themselves, "What did I do to deserve a stranger giving his life to save me?" . Then I ask, am I worthy to have someone die for me? I sincerely want to be!
But what can I ever do to achieve that kind of status? Could I ever attain a position of being good enough?
We all have to ask these questions of ourselves. Sadly the answer I arrived at and you must arrive at, is we can do nothing to be good enough to deserve someone else dying for us.
Tragically, because someone already died for you and me. No I'm not talking about the thousands of soldiers that have died for our freedom. I'm talking about Jesus the Christ. He died for me because I could never be good enough to die for myself.
1 John 3;16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Romans 6;23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 1;7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
God I pray that everyday I will strive to being more like Jesus.
