Last week I noted three of my friends as they celebrated life. Dr. Greg Dixon turned 80 and is still going strong in the international ministry Christ has given to him. A spring in his step, fervency in his voice and glint in his eye shout "I'm in this to the end."
Another longtime friend, former pastor to me and life mentor, Dr. Tom Wallace 82, preached to the throng at Heritage Baptist College and wowed all of us with his vibrant aura of health, lithe movement and more hair than he had 30 years ago. Doc is the apostle of positive faith and reaching folks for Jesus. At 82 he loads his sermons with content and joy. He is off to the Caribbean to preach in a mission.
A local man whom I know via several different associations, realtor John Newlin received lifetime recognition for his service to our community. When the award was presented, John at 91 bounced to the microphone and gave a 41 second speech stating the secret to winning the award is patience.
Joyce and I were at the awards ceremony of the area realtors at the Country Club as she was presented her 20 year realtor's pin. Most think she became a realtor while in Middle School.
The point, age doesn't matter as The Holy Spirit is ageless.
As Mary said in Luke 1:47 "And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour."
