Few That Be That Find It

Mt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Have you ever wondered why there are few that find it?
Do you want to be one of the few or are you satisfied with where you are in the Lord?
This is message is primarily for the ones that desire to be one of the few.
Did you know that you are a spirit being? In:
1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We have a body a mind (our will, desire, emotions, and feelings) but we also have a spirit. God is a spirit. The devil is a spirit. As humans we are rather in the middle. God wants to inhabit us but so does the devil. The real key is to learn which is which.
Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
We must let or allow the mind of Christ. We actually have three choices. We can operate out of our fleshly mind, Godís mind, or the devils mind. We must make a choice. We are told:
Pr 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
We are what we think we are. Depending on which mind is in us, determines what we think.
We know that our fleshly mind does not please God.
Ro 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
The word flesh above denotes our carnal mind, not our physical body.
Obviously God does not want us to have the devilís mind as he booted him from Heaven.
In order to have Godís mind we must get rid of the other two. This is a process of surrender to the Holy Spirit. We have many weights and strongholds in our minds that must be gotten rid of.
Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Corinthians 2:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Any imagination or thought that we focus on and allow to be what runs our lives is against the knowledge of God. The scripture says against the knowledge of God. This is not referring to knowing about God; it is telling us that we can have Godís mind. Jesus was our example. He came to not do his will but the will of the Father that sent him. He did what he saw the Father do and spoke what he heard the Father say. Are we any different? He had to trust in the Holy Spirit and allow him to lead and guide him. You may say well that was Jesus and not me.
Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
If we are dead and it is only Christ living in us, then we would be doing exactly what Jesus did as it would be Him though us.
One of the things the church has failed to promote is dying to self. Scripture say:
Mt 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
We must lose our life to find real life. Real life is a spiritual life. We are a spirit but we for the most part have not allowed or learned to allow our spirit to rule us. We are told that:
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Our real life is a spiritual life.
When we are saved or born again the Holy Spirit comes in and joins with our spirit. Our spirit man is born again. The key then is learning how to listen to our spirit instead of our soul or flesh.
Earlier I quoted 2 Cor 10:4-5. We are told that there are strongholds. A stronghold is something that has a strong hold over our mind. It can be a driving force that consumes us. It can be either truth or a lie. If it consumes us then it something that is against the knowledge of God. God desires that we walk in His knowledge. His knowledge will produce power as it is the Holy Ghost through us. In order for us to walk in the spirit with His knowledge we must first die to self. We must make a choice to have His mind. We must be willing to surrender our own will, thoughts, desires, plans, agendas, and hopes and dreams. We must become like Jesus, no matter the cost, we want Godís knowledge and mind.
The reason that there are so few that find life is because they are unwilling to surrender their own life to have a real life with Jesus. They would rather walk in the temporal cares of this world. That is safe and wonít cost as much. The problem is this is sin in Godís eyes. In Isaiah 30 and 31, we are told about rebellion. We are told that when we trust in our flesh or in man we are in rebellion. The only one that God requires us to trust in is His Holy Spirit. We are to walk in the Spirit, not our flesh. Most of America I see is in rebellion. Did you realize that when we sin that we are walking in agreement with the devil? Scripture says that sin is of the devil. The reason being is that sin is the result of us being in control instead of the Holy Spirit. Is this not what the devil did as he wanted to be like God? He wanted to run things. He thought he was more qualified than God. This is what we are doing when we trust in man or our flesh. We are calling God a liar and the devils ways true. The church has little power as the request by many seems to be asking God to come into agreement with what a flesh thought wants or desires. We have this backwards as we are to come into agreement with what God desires. We are to be doing His will and not our own. We seem to be taught works. When we were saved most of us learned this scripture.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
So many are caught up in religious works where there is no power. We were told to walk in the spirit not the word. We must have and know the word but we must go deeper and find an intimate relationship with the one who wrote the word. We must know what the word says or we will not know what truth is. When the devil tries to deceive if we donít know truth then how can we recognize the false? God will lead us concerning the word. We can walk the word by our flesh or by His Spirit. By his spirit requires surrender of our lives to Him whereas walking by the flesh costs us not being one of the few that finds life.
The bottom line is this. We must surrender our will and everything about us to the Lord. We must choose to allow the Holy Spirit work for us and through us. We must not follow the cares of this world. We must decide that we want to hear from and be obedient to the Holy Spirit more than anything else. We must develop an intimate relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. This is where we each will find true life and peace. This is where we are changed, led, provided for, and used of the Lord in powerful ways. The choice is ours. We can be one of the few, or be like so many and just live for self in a temporal world. Who do we really desire to please? The Holy Spirit recently told me that the reason there is so few that find life is because they do not want to lay aside the weights and sin and want to do things their own way. Do You?
Most people do not know who they really are or what God desires for them. They have settled for many substitutes. This is not totally their fault as the church for the most part has never helped them to see what they can be in Christ. Pastor once said that the real you is the spiritual you. Unless we desire the things of the spirit and intimacy with the Holy Spirit we will never know what we could have been. I have learned that God always has better and for me than what I ever came up with for myself. It is time to taste of the Lord and see that He is good and become what He wants you to be. You will never regret it.
