So often we feel we must know the whole route we are to take. Before we leave to a new destination we bring up map-quest and print out the directions or type them into our Tom-Tom. We take classes at college like this also. The prof, hands out a syllabus which is a map of what you will learn in his class. But following God is not that way. Ps 119: 105 says...Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. In other words, one step at a time.
Acts 8: 26-30 But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza."So he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship, and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
Look at Philip, God told him to get up and go to this desert road. So he went. Then God told him to run up and catch this chariot. And he did. Then and only then did he know what he was there for. We cant worry ourselves with the end results. We just have to be obedient each step of the way.
Maybe God will tell you to take a walk tonight. On that walk God will tell you to go knock on a strangers door. Will you take the small steps of obedience? No mater how foolish it seems to you, it makes perfect sense to our LORD. Step out and be willing to be used by God and great things will happen to you.
