What powerful words, if they are true. When raising children, I found nothing effects a child like going into their room at bed time and talking to God about them. Talk about big brother is watching. If you do this on a regular basis you don't have to worry about shoplifting or other youthful indiscretions. I like to say it works 100% of the time but it doesn't.
Carry that over into your adult lives. Don't be afraid to be caught praying! I see it in restaurants every week, a business man quietly bows his head across the restaurant a family also bow their heads. It's rare to hear them praying but when you do it's a basic, quick, ashamed of the gospel prayer.
Lets also address the sick or troubled co-worker. We have all slipped back to our desk and said a brief, sincere prayer. I've heard of very few of these prayers that actually worked. Referring back to one of my former blogs, where do you see that kind of prayer in Gods word?
Here is what I see.
James 5;16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
1 Timothy 2;8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Ps 55;17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
So next time you're in the restaurant or your co-worker says he/she is sick. lift up holy hands and cry out in a loud voice. You'll be surprised how God will answer and how many people come to you for prayer.
