One of the joys of a daily ministry whether it be TV, radio or an Internet letter/blog is that in order to do it well, an enormous amount of reading is required. I have loved to read since prior to attending school.
I have noticed a decline in our quality of life in America as the level of reading, both in amount and substance declines. In my lifetime I have been through numerous wars, know or knew many of the Greatest Generation, watched as the debauched lifestyle of my youth became the norm for most Americans, watched as marriage was denigrated to little or no importance and cringed in near horror as over 50 million babies have been sacrificed on altars of convenience causing it to appear that our streets are figuratively awash with innocent blood.
Add to the above Steve and Harry becoming Husband and Husband with girls doing the same; I sat to thinking, what is the one barrier to such wanton lifestyles that has been removed and thus opened the floodgates? A 20th Century Presbyterian preacher commented on the threat of his time that is the reality of ours: "Rivers of America will run with blood filled to their banks before we will submit to them taking the Bible out of our schools." Billy Sunday. I Wonder…
