Often times silence speaks more eloquently than words. When the heart is heavy with grief or trials weigh heavy on our spirit, how comforting to have a friend by one's side who understands and whose sympathy lies deeper than words. God's love is like this. Nothing that concerns us is unimportant to Him. His heart is loving and kind. When we are in His presence we can know peace and security. God often speaks to us in a still small voice. I also have heard it worded that He speaks to us in the sound of a gentle stillness.
Think of the great miracles of nature that happen silently, the seed grows steadily, making no noise, yet how powerful it is often lifting cement blocks in a sidewalk. Or how silently the snowflakes fall, yet they are the source of rivers that water large portions of land.
Silence in worship is pleasing to God. Often times we miss the message of heaven because we do not heed the words, "Be still, and know that I am God." When we are silent we hear what is really important from that still small voice. God's Spirit operates in our hearts silently but very powerfully so let us respond to His quiet moving.
