Resurrection is the basis of Christianity. Human body resurrects after sometime. Resurrection is the promise of Jesus to the whole humanity. It is the foundation stone of faith in God.
It was difficult for the disciples to believe the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus opened their eyes and strengthened their faith. The disciples of Jesus were the first witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus. They experienced the Risen Lord in every way. They touched him, ate with him, and shared all the life with Jesus. They passed the good message of resurrection through generations. Faith in resurrection has been the backbone of Christianity.
Paul writes about resurrection
Without faith in resurrection, Christian faith becomes dead. Early Christians experience the Risen Lord in their lives. That made them live together in the love of God. Paul wrote, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep... But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised; if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.(1 Cor.15: 3-6; 13-14)

Martin Luther, while saying about resurrection, pointed out that Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime. Spring may seem to us as a coincidence of nature’s greeting Easter with the message of resurrection. Look at the nature during the Easter. We can see the tangible signs of Easter in the blossomings of spring. The returning green grass, the resurrecting colorful tulips, the steadily leafing trees, and the growing warmth of the sun fill us with the hope of resurrection.
Resurrection is an assurance of God’s great love
In the resurrection of Jesus, we rediscover the unfathomable and unconditional love of God. God gave us the experience of tasting eternity through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. R.W.Emerson wrote about resurrection, “He takes men out of time and makes them feel eternity.”
Resurrection can be experienced only through the life of love
Belief in resurrection has made Christian communities live the Risen Christ through their lives of compassion, forgiveness, and justice in everyday activities. Risen Christ opens the eyes of faith and enables them taste the love of God. Belief in resurrection is not a mere ritual of Easter. It is a life of faith. Resurrection of Jesus is a promise of hope in life.
