I stand in the center
Of the river of my life
Panicked.
Rapids rage, whitewater foams.
Uncertain which way to turn
I am unable to move a single step.
Afraid, heart pounding, mind swirling
Chest tightening, I can't breathe.
You, Holy Spirit, become my stepping stone
You enable me to move,
Each foot planted firmly on
Your grace.
I feel your hand steady my foot
You hold me secure
Walk me step by step to safety.
I know beyond doubt
That should the next step
Be a waterfall
Even there
Your Spirit will hold me up.
In your grace and strength
I can walk anywhere
Through deepest valleys
Darkest nights
And even
Should you call me to come
On air.

A beautiful and refreshing piece of poetry. I love the momentary pauses that you've created throughout the poem to create emphasis on certain words and phrases.
very good write, I enjoyed how the poem took a stepping stone feel and look to it. very clever writing.
thank you for the advice on mine, it did make a difference in the feel of the write. thanks very much for the advice.
