The question is whatever happened to the Edomites? We know that Jacob’s name was changed to Israel and he created the house of Israel. God said there would be two nations and one was Israel. Who is the other nation? The other nation formed from Esau was Edom.
After Isaac gave the blessing to Jacob, Esau left and went back to Seir. There he married Canaanite wives and started the nation of Edom. We have all heard of the Canaanites. We have never heard anything good about them.
First of all it is known that Canaan was the son of Ham and the grandson of Noah. Ham received a prophetic curse for staring at his father Noah when he was naked. His son Canaan’s descendants came to be known as Canaanites. The Nelson Compact Bible Dictionary confirms that Noah was furious because Ham has seen him naked, and he placed a prophetic curse on Ham’s grandson Canaan. In the Old Testament those who found favor with God could place curses on nations and people. This practice only lasted to the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Canaanites were the most evil people at that time. They practiced snake worship, sacred prostitution, and even child sacrifice. The Canaanites immoral character and brought out the worst behavior in their followers. The children of Esau and his Canaanite wives would be known as Edomites. The word Edom is derived from the word red. They lived in an area known as Seir. This was south of Judah. The entire area was known as Edom. Remember Esau was born red and hairy and was known as the red child.
There was continual warfare between the Israelites and the Edomites. When the Israelites crossed the Red Sea the Edomites would not let them pass through their land. This caused the Israelites take a much longer route.
God understood the future problems that the Canaanites would create. The Canaanites made a covenant with their God Berith. Later Christianity changed that name to Baalberith. This Baalberith was a fallen angel under the command of Satan.
In the 20th chapter of Deuteronomy God commands in the cities that he has given the Israelites to leave no Canaanite alive along with others living in Canaan. God commanded this to prevent further evil from occurring there in the future. God instructed that if they didn’t kill all living there that the Canaanites would teach the Israelites all the detestable things and result would cause the Israelites to sin against their God.
God then ordered that King Saul kill all the Amalekites-a tribe of Edomites.. This tribe came from Esau’s grandson Amalek. They would certainly carry on the same covenant with Satan. Saul lied and said he had killed all the Amalekites except their king Agag. Because Saul did not carry out God’s order the Amalekites there were enough of them to take David and his family captive in later generations. Later David and his men overcame the Amalekites and rescued their families. Unfortunately 400 Amelekites escaped and started to repopulate again. Several hundred years later the Amalekites tried to exterminate all the Jews. If Saul would have done what God told him to, it would have saved many Jewish lives and other problems. God knew ahead of time what problems they would cause if not entirely destroyed.
Later in the 1600’s we have compelling proof of the existence of Baalberith. Yes, there is and it was confirmed during an exorcism. There were a group of nuns possessed at Aix-en-Provence in France. Several priests subjected them to acts with Satan. The nuns were possessed because of vile actions that two priests took against them. Those priests were later executed.
According to a book written by Father Sebastian Michaelis titled ‘Admirable History’ Fr. Sebastian gives an account of his encounter with Baalberith while exorcising a demon from Sister Madaleine. During the encounter the demon gave his name Baalberith and named all the other demons possessing the nun. He is the same as whom the Jews call Berith. The Jews described Berith as a red soldier riding on a red horse. He can answer all questions of past and future. He also has legions of fallen angels under him. Baalberith was described when he sat among the princes of hell as their pontiff. Baalberith is also known as the chief secretary of hell, head of the public archives, and the demon who led men to blasphemy and murder. He is not ‘the’ devil. ‘The’ devil is Satan. He is not Beelzebub. He actually gave Fr. Sebastian the list of hierarchy in hell. We can remember that Esau was called the red child. Remember Edomite was a derivative of the word red. Now the color red is associated with the color for Baalberith. Also the name of the descendants of Esau and his Canaanite wives the Edomites also relates to the color red. The strength of these demons was so strong that the exorcism lasted four months.
Thus, says the Lord: For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually, and so he kept his wrath forever. (Amos 1:11) This seed has been condemned by God forever. You will see this is not breaking the enmity between God and man. The Edomites are the property of Satan. There is a reason this line can’t attain salvation and you will see why as explained by Jesus.
The Edomites have not disappeared but they have been hidden. So where are the Edomites? Where are the descendants of Esau and his Canaanite wives? The Bible tells us the tribes of Judah and Benjaman were taken into captivity by the Babylonians. Judah was a fertile area and the area just south of Judah was Edom. As the Israelites were taken into captivity to Babylon, the Edomites started moving into the unoccupied area known as Judah. The land of Judah was much more fertile than the land of Edom. Years later the Jews were released from their captivity they came back and found the Edomites living in their land. Led by John Hyrcanus the Israelites conquered the Edomites. The Edomites agreed to be circumsized and to practice Jewish Law. Of course the Edomites honored God with their lips but their souls belonged to Satan. These were only hollow oaths that meant nothing to the Edomites. Unfortunately they would be well blended into the Jewish culture.
Our answer is they appear to be Jewish. Matthew 7:15-20 Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire. This is how we can tell them apart.
Remember that Jerusalem is in Judea and that is where the Edomites lived. Even King Herod was an Edomite. You can see why the people there in Jerusalem were so easily stirred up against Jesus. Many were Edomites.
You can see the reason why the Edomites can’t be saved in the 8th chapter of John. The following is the evidence that Jesus only came for the lost sheep of Israel. And behold, a Canaanite woman from the region came out an cried, “Have mercy on me O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon.” But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him saying, “Send her away, for she is crying after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 15:22-24) He did not say he came for the lost sheep of Abraham, which, included the Edomites.
In verse 39 Jesus tells a selected group in the crowd that if they were Abraham’s children they would do what Abraham did. They had declared themselves to be children of Abraham through genetics. Remember that Esau was from the house of Abraham. They didn’t say they were children of Jacob. They were not from the house of Israel. If they were from the House of Abraham, and weren’t from the house of Israel, then they would be descended from Esau and were Edomites.
Jesus says to the group of ‘Jews’ that believed in him, if you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” Yet the others in that group said, “We are descendants of Abraham, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will be made free’?” Here you can see that Jesus is talking about being free from sin. This other group understands that statement to mean a physical bondage. They also refer to themselves from the house of Abraham and don’t say they are from the house of Israel. Only the Israelites were slaves of the Egyptians and not the descendants of Esau. Therefore, these descendants from Abraham were never under bondage of the Egyptians nor anyone else. This is compelling evidence Jesus was talking to Edomites. They did appear to be Jews but weren’t. This goes back to the Jews in the synagogue that weren’t Jews. The Jews in the synagogue of Satan Jesus was talking about were Edomites. John 8:39
Then Jesus comes right out in verse 44-48 and says to this group, “You are of your father the devil (Baalberith covenant) and your will is to do what your father desires. He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God; the reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” Jesus isn’t merely speaking to the fact one is a sinner he is referring to the fact that the line of Edomites through the Canaanites line has a covenant with Satan and when confronted with the truth they believe it is a lie.
Here is the answer why those born of the Canaanites and Esau can’t be saved. They will never understand the truth. Certainly if they would accept Jesus Christ as their Savior they would be saved. They are of their father, the devil, because of the covenant made with Baalberith and will never understand the Gospel to be saved. To the Edomites the truth is a lie. They only understand lies and because the gospel is the truth, which they don’t understand, is the reason they are eternally condemned. Did you know that God condemned the Canaanites forever after they made a covenant with Baalberith? “Thus, says the Lord: For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually, and so he kept his wrath forever.” (Amos 1:11)
Then in verse 48 the ‘Jews’ (Edomites) answered him (Jesus), in saying that, “you are a Samaritan and have a demon.” Of course according to the devil’s people they would think the Son of God has a demon. What they believe is bad is good and what they believe is good is bad. In verse 57 Jesus tells these Jews that, “before Abraham was I am.” Of course the crowd knew that the one whom Moses spoke to was I am. They knew what Jesus was declaring. After hearing this they picked up stones to stone Jesus but he had disappeared out of the temple. Jesus had known they would try to kill him.
If you remember this isn’t the first time an Edomite tried to kill Jesus. Herod the Great, the king of Judea, was found in favor of the Romans from whom he received the appointment. When Herod the Great had heard of one child who would be the ‘King of the Jews’ he ordered all male infants in the Bethlehem of that age put to death . This was a vile act and could only be done by one whose father was the devil. He wanted very much to kill Jesus.
Then there was another Edomite descended from Herod the Great known as Herod Antipas, who of course, was also an Edomite. Herod Antipas found his brother’s wife more attractive than his present wife and eloped with her even though they were both still married to their spouses. This is whom John the Baptist called out for this major sin. Granting a wish for a relative named Salome he had John the Baptist beheaded. Jesus, then encountered Herod Antipas personally at his trial. When Herod addressed Him Jesus would not even say a word. Jesus would not even acknowledge this heathen. Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with hate as they mocked Him and humiliated Him. Herod and Pilate had been enemies until this event and after this they became friends that very day. Here again, was another bad relationship with an Edomite.
It would also appear that the vast majority of ‘crucify him’ crowd were not Israelite Jews but Edomite 'jews.'
