Recently, I had the opportunity to compete in The Right to Life annual speech contest. Having won second place the year before, I was anxious to compete again, both for the opportunity to hone my skills as a writer, and, more importantly, to strike a blow against abortion. Unfortunately, ill-timed obligations, as well as a death in my family prevented me from taking up the challenge. This article is to avenge my missed opportunity to speak out against abortion.
Abortion is a cancer in America. It eats away at our moral framework: weakening morals, respect for life, destroying families, and providing a quick “fix” to problems. Abortion is wrong. Anybody who can sleep at night after defending a procedure which involves sticking a pair of scissors into the womb, jabbing them into a baby’s skull, opening a hole in the head, and vacuuming out the brains of the unborn child is a murderer. It’s a baby. It has a skull, it has a brain, limbs, feelings, can sense pain, etc.
And lest anyone judge me for scientific ignorance, no, that is NOT the only way abortion is done. Such lovely tactics as saline poisoning to burn the skin off, forceps to twist limps of and break bones, high powered vacuums to rip bodies apart, and medicine to induce the mother’s body into convulsing and decapitating the baby are also used.
Please, let’s speak out against this abomination. Life is precious: Are we so hardened we will condone throwing children that survive abortion into wastebaskets? Our nation does. Please, let’s change this.
