The fact that the believer's salvation is OF the LORD means that it's orgin and power and ultimate source is from God and not from man.
Just as the Bible teaches that believers are given to the Lord and are "not of the world" (John 17:16)meaning their faith and salvation come from the authority and power of God in heaven where the source originates. This should be clear from the many verses in the Bible that speak to this matter and yet there are those who foolishly believe salvation is a joint effort between God and man.
This false idea that man must cooperate with God usually stems from the mistaken belief that the natural man is not really that bad and that he has a free will and that God is a gentleman and doesn't force Himself on anybody. This is known as Arminianism and was rejected by the church as heresy and without Scriptural validity.
People who profess faith in Jesus Christ often go to the Bible with preconceived notions of who they "think" God is rather than who God really is based on what the Bible teaches us about the God of scripture.
Salvation is of the LORD and we can bless our God in heaven that it is so because if it were left up to sinful man we would never come to Jesus. This is why Jesus says in John 6:44 "NO MAN CAN COME TO ME except the Father which hath sent me draw him."
Is this being a robot?
No, because it is God who works in us "both to will and to do of His good pleasure" as we read in Philippians 2:13 and "Thy people shall be MADE WILLING in the day of thy power." Psalm 110:3
I remember as a teenager hearing that man is neutral and is sitting on a fence and God is voting for you and the Devil is voting against you and now it's up to you to decide which side of the fence you will go. This false theology has inundated most churches today and has presented a man-centered gospel instead of a God-centered gospel where God gets all the glory.
The man-centered gospel says that God and Satan in effect, are equally powerful in tugging at the sinner's heartstrings and it must be the sinner who decides which he will choose to follow, God or Satan.
The local church today is full of false converts who think they've chosen God and accepted the God of glory but the Bible is emphatically clear that true believers are blessed and receive all spiritual blessings in "heavenly places in Christ: according as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world..." Eph 1:3-4
Perhaps it will be easier to understand how the Trinity plays a role in our salvation so let's take each member of the trinity and show how this works out.
Before the world nobody had any works on which to base election which is part of salvation but not the entirety of salvation.
God the Father choose a people for Himself and gave these to His Son to redeem and make atonement for their sins. The Holy Spirit effectually calls and sanctifies these by regeneration.
as we read in 2 Thess 2:13 "But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the lord, because GOD HATH from the beginning CHOSEN YOU to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth."
When did this choosing or election take place? From the beginning which means before the beginning of the world. We arrive at this by comparing scripture with scripture as the Bible is its own best commentary. Compare this idea with Eph 1:4 "He hath chosen us in Him BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD."
Thus salvation is of the LORD and can not possibly be by any joint effort or cooperation between God and man or else man would get some credit and some glory. Man was never able to choose himself to salvation or to choose God seeing he was spiritually dead and unable to do anything but walk in darkness
and fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Jesus said to His disciples "You didn't choose me but I chose you..." John 15:16
and it was said of ancient Israel that "The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
But because the LORD loved you..." Deut 7:7-8
didn't choose them because they were more in number than others but because the LORD loved them. The cause was in God not man and so God gets all the glory for His victory over sin, Satan and death.
This idea is done away with such verses as Revelation 4:11 where we read: "Thou art worthy O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."
Man is lost and dead in trespasses and sins, under the power of the Devil, walks in darkness 1 John 1:6 and must be made alive by the work of God. Eph 2:1 The sinner is actually created anew for this is what it means to be born again of the Spirit.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Cor. 5:17
Comfort yourself by reading what the Bible teaches for it doesn't teach Salvation is of the LORD and of man but rather "Salvation is of the LORD." This confirms the teaching of the sovereignty of God in salvation. It tells of His majestic power and purpose in choosing, redeeming and effectually calling and regenerating.
All praise be to God who liveth and abideth forever.

Thank you for this article on Salvation. A.W. Tozer in his book "The Divine Conquest" states that salvation is an initial "drawing" of man by God and a "conquest" of man's being by the Divine, not for control but out of His great Love and Mercy (Titus 3:4-7).
