Early Tuesday morning I got to thinking about heaven and this line of thought always lifts me up. Heaven in some form is used 552 times in the scripture and the context usually determines what is meant. Simply put heaven can mean the atmosphere, or the starry heaven and finally the ultimate meaning, the abode of God, angels and numerous other entities including biblically defined saints.
We are told concerning heaven that Christ is in heaven performing His priestly work; Hebrews 9:24 "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:"
Furthermore while we who know Christ have the twofold responsibility of citizenship in two kingdoms, of earth and of heaven, as taught by Paul in Philippians 3:20 “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:"
Our conversation, i.e. lifestyle is to be in accord with the heavenly and this will strongly influence our lifestyle while living here below. It is observable that the opposite is largely the norm. Jesus talked about on several occasions and in 50 years of reading and studying the Bible I have never found one negative word about heaven.
"If heaven wasn't so far away, I would pack a bag and go visit for a day." Mick Murphy, German Philosopher
I recently heard a country western song about a day trip to heaven. My latest article is, As It Is In Heaven. But yours is a different approach. Most inspiring. Lord bless you Larry.
