Street Tough September 7, 2002
When your life goes through changes
And you’re forced to follow
Because of great needs
You must roll with the flow
Learn a new way to be
From the old path you were on
Did not work out at all
Seems it caused you much trouble
Being wild and free
The streets have no sympathy
Sometimes it gets mean
Being kind and gentle
To all that come by
Trying your best to cause no trouble
At any time
Seems there’s always an idiot
Set on giving you a hard time
Now don’t get me wrong
I won’t take any gruff
If the odds are about even
I must hang tough
Though I usually I end up
At the short end of the stick
None ever came back
A few punches did stick
You must earn some respect
You can’t bow down
Because if you do
The word gets around
Then you’ll get no peace
From idiots on the street
Life is hard enough
Without blatant stupidity
Try to live at peace, feel free
And look after your family
(God, please watch over us each day
Help us to be safe in every way
I pray, with Sincerity, Amen.)
