Some time ago the waves were turning

In some small part of a half baking summer
When the wind smoothed the palm of sun lighted paths
Where the height of the cliff tops showed your fear
You turned to me and you knew your life was turning.

If now I could say all those words
If now I could caress your cheek
If now I could raise your voice from where it lays
I would tell you I already knew the waves were turning

The tide, your tide, a soft quiet ebb
Leaving me standing on a cliff looking down
As the sun drew back and back and left you waving
In a setting of gold it bathed your life
While the sea placed you gently
At the edge of the shore

Jackie, this is beautiful. Some of your words and phrases painted wonderful pictures. The first two lines of the first stanza and the whole last stanza in particular. From what you wrote on the Boards, your brother sounded like such a good man. What a sad loss for your family. With love, Deb
